Sorry, But Harry And Meghan Did Not Get Married Secretly

secret wedding; Meghan, chicken little

Yeah, there was no secret wedding as it is illegal in the Church of England…

Meghan Markle made the brain scratching revelation during the Oprah interview. She claims she and Prince Harry had a secret wedding three days before the large ‘spectacle’ which cost British taxpayers millions. According to 9Honey, a vicar has come forward and said that the Sussexes didn’t wed when the former actress claimed. Now, before all you Sugars come for our heads, be mindful because religious leaders take their jobs very seriously.

A wedding in the Church of England cannot happen unless it takes place in a place which is recognised by the church as being religious or is licenced. Not to mention, there has to be two witnesses. So, Harry and Meghan couldn’t have had a secret wedding in their backyard in front of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

Also, it has been claimed that the Archbishop of Canterbury does not participate in private weddings. The BBC has since reported that it was likely an exchange of private vows rather than a secret wedding. We also have to point out that if a ceremony had taken place, then it would be a breach of protocol as Harry’s grandmother, The Queen is the head of the church. So, for her grandson and his fiancée to have wed twice would’ve been a massive issue.

Not to mention, it has been pointed out that a couple cannot be married twice. Once they are wed once, they cannot have a redo wedding. However, another vicar has said that Meghan can call the chat she and Harry had with the Archbishop in their garden a wedding if she wants.

Finally, commentary on the situation has been brought to light that Americans – like Meghan – don’t have the same understanding of the specifics of the law of marriage the way most Brits do.

Our Thoughts

Meghan loves to make a big deal out of everything that comes out of her mouth. She expects everyone to believe her lies. However, she would’ve known that a chat in the backyard with the Archbishop was NOT a secret wedding. It’s also possible that it was a wedding rehearsal that she mistook as a ceremony. It wouldn’t be the first time she has misinterpreted something. Look at what happened with the titles for Archie.

If we’re honest, it’s probably a huge misunderstanding of how the Church of England works on Meghan’s part. Though, Harry did nothing to stop her and didn’t make a correction. She even claims they have a photo or some document in their bedroom of the event. So, we have two thoughts on the matter.

The first point is Meghan is a divorced woman who wasn’t married in a church the first time so she would have no idea how certain things work.

Our second point is she knew that making this comment would irk people. If a secret wedding had taken place then tax payers lost millions of pounds on a ceremony that wasn’t needed. Not only is that not fair to all the people who work hard, it’s a great way to turn the public off the Sussexes. It shows them as spoilt and entitled.
