Disney Star Cameron Boyce Dies

Cameron

Disney Channel Star Cameron Boyce has died in his sleep aged 20. Fans will know him from the show JESSIE and its spinoff, BUNK’D. He also had a role on Liv & Maddie, where he played the cousin of his future Descendants franchise co-star, Dove Cameron.

In recent years, Cameron played Carlos De Vil, the timid yet kind-hearted son of classic Disney Villain Cruella De Vil, in the Disney Channel franchise, Descendants, which will drop its third film in early August.

Cameron made his feature film debut in the 2010 Adam Sandler film, Grownups. It’s this film that he worked with future Descendants 2 co-stars, China Anne McClain and Adam Sandler, who played his dad in those films.

Aside from acting, Cameron was a passionate humanitarian.

Farewell, Cameron, Sweet Soul. Our Carlos.

Fans and people who have worked with the actor have flocked together to mourn the young man with a big heart and total dedication to everything he did.

Descendants franchise director Kenny Ortega wrote on Instagram:

Fellow former Disney Channel Star Zendaya posted her condolences to Twitter:

Sandler said that Boyce was one of the “most talented and nicest” people he’d ever worked with. We hear you, Adam!

The head of the Walt Disney Company, Robert Iger, issued a statement on behalf of everyone at the company:

For fans who grew up watching him, his passing feels rather personal, and we agree. When you watch someone on screen for so long, it feels raw.

As to whether Descendants 3 will be dedicated to him is yet to be seen, but it would be a great way to give him and the character of Carlos closure.

We’re sending out our condolences and love to Cameron’s family, friends, and co-stars at this challenging time. RIP Cam. We’ll miss you!
