Prince Harry And The Lies Of Invictus – OPINION

Invictus, lies, Prince Harry

The Invictus Games needs to find itself a new patron as Prince Harry is no longer the man for the job. I’m sorry if that upsets people. His performance in the recently released Netflix docuseries Heart of Invictus has people up in arms for a good reason. He tells a few porky pie lies during docuseries, and so many people are simply over his BS.

I know this is being covered by so many people. But I wanted to give my opinion on the Invictus lies. Before we start, I saw a Tweet from the Royal News Network where she said that Heart of Invictus has not even made the Top 10 on Netflix. It’s been two/three days since it was released. Also, I will not be calling Twitter ‘X’. It’s a stupid name that is as bad as Meghan’s ‘The Tig.’

No Support

I touched on this briefly during my previous post on the Sussexes and wanted to review it more. It has come out that Harry claims in Heart of Invictus that he got no support from his family or those around him. He claims he had a meltdown and ended up in the foetal position on the floor. Hmm. Sounds like Meghan, doesn’t it? There is plenty of proof to show his family supported him.

Please remember that this is just a selection of things. I know there is an event that The Queen attended, but for the life of me, I cannot remember what it was called.

The Queen Appears In Promo

Let’s start with the 2016 Orlando event in which The Queen appeared in a promo where the Obamas challenged Harry to a little friendly competition. Does anyone remember this?

In 2014, the Daily Mail reported that Prince William (wearing an Invictus shirt) and the then-Prince Charles attended the first Invictus Games in London with Harry.

The Tindalls And The Middletons

New My Royals posted in 2014 that Prince Harry’s cousin, Zara and her husband, Mike Tindall and Catherine, the then Duchess of Cambridge’s siblings, Pippa and James, were all present at the London event.

The Bryony Gordon Podcast Interview

Harry also seems to forget that he was a guest on his favourite journalist and fangirl, Bryony Gordon’s podcast, Mad World podcast, where he actively raved about William’s help, telling him he needed to get a therapist and seek help. This was 2017.

Multiple Family Members Have Gotten Therapy

Prince Harry keeps droning on about how therapy isn’t something his family ever spoke about. While this wasn’t directly referenced in Heart of Invictus, I wanted to include examples of royals and other relatives who have done therapy over the years. An article by Elle Magazine mentions various people.

  • Diana, Princess of Wales – for bulimia and marriage issues with Charles.
  • King Charles (previously Prince Charles) – marriage issues early in his marriage to Diana.
  • Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex – Before the Oprah interview and family issues, he said he had been attending therapy to deal with losing his mother when he was 12. His story about getting help for his issues has changed in recent years.
  • James Middleton – While not a direct royal, James Middleton, the brother of Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has been very open about seeking help for his mental health issues.
  • William, The Princes of Wales – William has always advocated for mental health and has attended therapy in recent years for mental challenges.
  • Princess Margaret, the Countess of Snowden – the Queen’s younger sister, Princess Margaret never opened up publicly about attending therapy after allegedly suffering a mental breakdown during her marriage to Antony Armstrong-Jones.

Honorable Mention

I’m not one hundred per cent sure if Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has attended therapy herself, but I believe she has attended sessions to support her brother, James.

Meghan Markle is mentioned in the Elle magazine list, but I didn’t include her because I don’t believe she has mental health issues. She has issues but thinks she’s too good to listen to a therapist.

The British Press Didn’t Talk About Wounded Veterans

We all know that Prince Harry will jump at any chance to bash the British press. During the Heart of Invictus, he claims the UK media didn’t care about the troops injured and dying in Afghanistan and weren’t reporting on it.

As you can imagine, people are TICKED! We saw a tweet from Kate Mansey, who worked at the Sunday Times at the time of the War in Afghanistan. She published a screenshot of the coverage she did in 2014.

Stef the Alter Nerd mentioned in her live on Popcorned Palace with Andy Signore that there was coverage. She showed clips from various videos. One of the videos includd the one for HeadsTogether by Time Magazine. The clip features William, Catherine and Harry talking about therapy.

I won’t go over the thing because I’d be here all day. But here are a few takeaways I’ve seen:

  • Many servicemen have said Harry is lying and that the UK press was amazing.
  • The Sun newspaper hit it out of the park. They fought back and said they helped set up the Millies (an awards night for wounded servicemen and women) and they started the Help for Heroes charity.
  • A military friend of Harry’s has come out. He said that he has supported him for fifteen years, but his statement about the press is wrong.
