How much more tackier can Meghan Markle become? She has outdated PR tactics that have become predictable at best. The former actress spent much of her life, pre-Prince Harry, hustling to become part of the A-list. Nothing ever came of it. She was in a cable show shot in Canada that few people watched. All she served as was the eye candy who had sex in a filing room.
Here at Project Fangirl, we’ve been following the Sussex drama for years and have a pretty good grasp of understanding Meghan Markle’s PR tactics.
In this post, we’ll review the known PR tactics that Meghan Markle uses to get the public to like her.
Celebrity Hunting
Meghan Markle loves to hunt celebrities and force that she has “a connection” to them down our throats.
Associating With Celebrities On The Outs
Hollywood has gone through a few adjustments in recent years. Celebrities are being called out left, right and centre for being bullies. Ellen DeGeneres is one of those. During the final season of her talk show, she had Meghan Markle on and took the absolute piss out of her by making her look stupid.
Ellen played “a game” with Meghan where she had to put a crystal to her head and chant, squat down and eat like a chipmunk. Markle doesn’t understand when people are taking the piss out of her. Then, she and Harry attended Degeneres’ vow renewal/birthday party.
The pair were then spotted interacting with other celebrities, including Oprah, at a fundraiser in Montecito.
Oprah is also another celebrity who is in serious trouble. She tried to make the fundraiser for the Maui wildfires about herself. Also, she’s been called out for her association with Harvey Weinstein, and Monique has gone to town on her for being a bully.
Copying Celebrity Looks
Celebrities have always influenced fashion looks, but it gets creepy when someone as Z-list as Meghan Markle starts copying them right down to the pose.
Meghan has copied the looks of:
- Angelina Jolie (see above)
- Kerry Washington
- Ivanka Trump
- Catherine, the Princess of Wales
- Diana, Princess of Wales
- Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor
- Victoria Beckham
- Michelle Obama
- Queen Máxima
We’ve included Catherine, Diana and Wallis on this list as Meghan loves effing with people by thinking she can dress better than everyone else.
Attempting To Relate To More Famous People – PR Tactics Galore!
Meghan has a habit of trying to relate to people who are more famous than she is. This became apparent during her failed Archetypes podcast, where she tried to say she was just like every celebrity she interviewed.
For example, she claimed she related to Paris Hilton because she was “objectified” on Deal or No Deal like Paris was on The Simple Life. Hilton was quick to dispel that rumour as she said she was putting on an act on the show. Meghan, however, tried to push the topic and failed.
In the premiere episode, she attempted to outdo her friend, Serena Williams, by claiming her son had almost gotten caught up in a South African house fire while the tennis champ had said he had fallen out of her high chair and broke her arm.
We could include many others, but we only have so much space.
Meghan Markle Has No Sense Of Fashion – PR Tactics To Cause A Negative Reaction?
The former actress has a larger-than-life habit of proclaiming she loves fashion. A lot of her style is a miss. Seriously, does the woman know what a tailor and an iron is? Her clothing is usually too big or too small for her, or the hang is terrible.
Meghan also rips off other people’s outfits. A famous example is the green coat she wore while pregnant with Archie. Princess Diana wore a similar coat dress while she was pregnant.
Suppose Meghan had copied Diana once or twice, sure. But a dozen times? That’s obsessive. Catherine will occasionally do something similar to Diana. However, the Princess of Wales has married William for over a decade. She has never tried to copy the mother-in-law she never got to meet. Sure, some of her outfits have been similar, but it doesn’t mean it’s a homage every single time.
Meghan, meanwhile, has to hammer home to Harry that she is just like his mother in every single way, and it has gotten predictable very fast. Let’s not forget her last outfit to the Invictus Games last year, eerily similar to Diana’s final photoshoot.
The bodysuit Meghan is wearing is 99% a carbon copy of the one Diana wore in her final photo shoot. The only evident difference is the sleeves on Meghan’s are more comprehensive, and it doesn’t fit her nearly as well.
Dressing For The Wrong Season
Meghan has an obscenely lousy habit of dressing for the wrong season. For example, the outfit she wore in the lead-up to Christmas last year showed her wearing layers of warm clothing when it was still relatively hot in Montecito despite it almost being winter.
Inappropriate Clothing To Certain Events
Meghan is well-known for wearing inappropriate outfits to specific events. There have been a few ample examples of this. At two military events, Markle swore red to stand out. She had worn the colour before she was with Harry.
The dress was pretty at the first event in the UK, and it worked for her. However, she colour-coordinated with her husband, which she should not have done. The PR tactics behind this were to show how in sync they were and how she supported him. However, that is not what the internal goal was.
Meghan wanted to stand out so she could be the centre of attention, despite it being an event for the military, which she has never had any experience in. She never served in the United Army, Air Force, or Navy. It was supposed to be Harry’s event, not hers, but she made it about herself and her obsession with the camera.
The second event was the Intrepid Awards a couple of years back, where Meghan wore that hideous dress that is right up there with the Kermit green cape dress from the Commonwealth Day service in 2020. She didn’t care about the veterans. It’s all about her getting her photo taken. Essentially, she was hogging the spotlight from everyone who mattered at the event.
Honourable Mentions
In no particular order
- Invictus Games 2022: Over $60k worth of high-end clothing and jewellery
- Visit to the school in Harlem, New York – 2021 – Over $5k worth of clothing and jewellery
- Invictus Games 2023: Wore short shorts during a march meant for vets – speculated to be about $200k
- Prince Louis’ Christening 2018 – Refused to wear the assigned colours of blue, cream or white – preferred Khaki to stand out and take the focus off Prince Louis.
Hatred For In-Laws And Her Own Family
This next one is huge regarding Meghan Markle and her key PR tactics.
Hating On Her Family
What did the Markle family that was so bad? Oh, right. They talk to the media and take pap shots. Uh. Meghan, honey. You take pap shots, too, so it’s okay for you, but not for your dad and half-siblings to do the same? Your mother does it, too, yet it’s okay for her to do it.
Meghan also claimed on Oprah that she was raised as an only child. Yet, there is evidence of her half-siblings having a role in her life as she was growing up.
Hating Her In-Laws
Why does Meghan Markle hate her royal in-laws as much as she does? That is actually a straightforward question to answer. They didn’t bow down to her. Most of the family saw through her act of being a kind, charitable person. Even the Spencer family could see through her.
Meghan Markle is also increasingly jealous of Catherine, the Princess of Wales because she has more sway. Kate has been a royal for many years, longer than Meghan ever was, and she had to work remarkably hard to get where she is. Markle, meanwhile, was handed stuff to please her and placate Harry’s temper.
