The Edinburghs, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, are being dragged into the Sussexes’ PR strategy. It is claimed in several publications that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want to end the rift with the royal family by “reconnecting” with the Waleses, Prince William and Catherine’s closest confidentes, beginning with Edward and Sophie. Sophie and Edward are too intelligent and loyal to King Charles to think twice about talking to the Sussexes. They have their jobs to do as the Edinburghs, a duchy that was held in great regard due to the endless work the late Prince Philip did with young people, which was handed to Edward as a birthday present by his eldest brother.
Also, it has been made abundantly clear that Sophie, in particular, does not like Meghan Markle. A couple of weeks ago, we posted an article on the filthy look the Duchess of Edinburgh gave at the former actress at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
Even a rumour has been floated that the Edinburghs (formerly the Wessexes) were assigned to get Meghan on the plane to Canada. This allegedly was after Markle snubbed a meeting (code for summons) with the Queen to attend the national theatre, which the late monarch had cancelled.

Edward is fiercely protective of his wife, though she can handle herself. After all, Sophie had to sit in the car with Meghan during the trip out of Buckingham Palace during the mourning for the Queen. It’s easy to see how awkward that would have been.
Knowing Sophie, she would have handled it with absolute grace. She was mourning a woman she greatly admired and loved as a second mother. Meghan made it clear years ago that she did not need the then-Countess of Wessex’s help. Not to mention, Sophie is fiercely protective of the Wales children. She helped Catherine and Camilla shield George and Charlotte during the mourning process.
