Is Prince Joachim Becoming Denmark’s Version Of Britain’s Prince Harry?

Joachim

It’s like something out of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Hamlet. First, a younger brother wants the power his older brother wields and then the son of the slain king fights against his uncle. It is no wonder that Disney based The Lion King on the play. But what happens when fiction slides over to reality? Well, it’s less bloody but equally as chaotic, as seen with the title issue surrounding the children of Prince Joachim of Denmark.

Joachim, the second son of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, is now crying that he and his family were blindsided by his mother’s decision to strip his four children of their princely titles come the new year. This is where people have started to notice how similar he is to Britain’s Prince Harry.

Both are second sons who were, at one point, spare heirs. Then, their older brothers got married and had children, and they [the spares] were pushed down the line of succession. Eventually, they both moved out of their home countries. However, there is a difference between Joachim and Harry.

Joachim was married before his older brother, Crown Prince Frederik, married Mary Donaldson, later Crown Princess Mary. He also had two children before Frederik and Mary had Prince Christian and their three other children, Princesses Isabella, Josephine, and Prince Vincent. Harry married Meghan Markle about eight years after William married Catherine Middleton and had three children.

Not long after Frederik and Mary married, Joachim and his first wife, Alexandra, divorced. He later married Marie and had two children, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena. His two children with Alexandra are Princes Felix and Nikolai.

Life’s Hard, Joachim; Get Use To It!

Princes Felix and Nikolai were the only grandchildren of Queen Margrethe before late 2005. If Christian had not been born, Nikolai would’ve been Frederik’s heir. For a time, he was until the future King of Denmark was born in October 2005.

Harry, meanwhile, knew that his time as a direct heir to his father would come to a close the second William and Catherine announced privately that they were pregnant with Prince George. He even said he knew when his nephew came of age; the attention would fall off him [Harry] and onto George. So all the now-Duke of Sussex does is whine and complain about his lot in life.

Frederik’s brother is doing the same thing, claiming his mother is stripping his children of their identities. Here’s the issue we have with his claim. He no longer lives in Denmark on a full-time basis. Felix and Nikolai model using their titles. They will have to change everything over to their courtesy titles when January rolls around. Is their father so ignorant that he didn’t realise his kids would eventually lose their titles?
