Liam and Brooke have every right to be worried about Thomas’ hold on Hope. As much of a waffler as Liam is, he doesn’t deserve to be pushed to the side as a single dad to Beth. With his wife working so closely with Thomas, his concerns are valid. After everything the fashion designer has done over the years, Hope keeps falling into his trap.
Thomas is incredibly convincing. However, some see through his act; Liam, Brooke, and Bill. Not to mention, Steffy has started to pick up on her brother’s reattachment. More on her in a moment. We mentioned a while ago that we knew a custody situation would come regarding young Douglas. This is no different to the whole Spencers and Forresters don’t like Douglas thing.
Hope has been roped into not wanting to rock the boat, as the last thing she wants is a court battle. If she wants time with her son, she has to go to Eric’s. Also, Beth is missing her brother, and her mother has to take her to see him as his father doesn’t want the kid to step forward into his mum’s house for fear he won’t return to him.
Douglas Forgets About Liam
The whole situation is messed up as it is. Douglas is at an age now (he’s been aged up from 7 to about 10) where he wants to be with his dad, but wants his mother around. He has forgotten that Liam has been in his life more in the past few years than Thomas. Also, his stepfather/cousin has said multiple times that he has never tried to be the boy’s father.
Every time that Douglas says he wants to be with “his real dad” to Liam’s face, it wounds the man a great deal. While the kid doesn’t realise what he is saying, no one bothers to tell him that words hurt. It has gotten to the point where Liam doesn’t get to see his wife that much because she’s with Douglas most of the time while neglecting her husband and daughter.
Not so long ago when Thomas tried to trick Hope into marrying him, Douglas said that Liam was more of a father to him than his actual dad was. This was the same event that Ridge denounced Thomas as his son because of his actions. Though, this was before he had the affair with the evil Hope mannequin.
Neglecting Beth And Single Dad Liam
Beth is still young and doesn’t understand why her mother isn’t there a lot. This was mentioned by Liam to Bill and Brooke when he told them that the little girl wanted to be at the fashion preview to support Hope. The reason we bring up the single dad thing is that that is what Liam has been reduced to. While being a solo parent isn’t a bad thing, it is when your partner is spending more time with their other family.
Hope had that concern when Liam spent all his time with Steffy and Kelly. This was before Finn came on the scene. Now, it’s the reverse as Thomas is a dangerous dude, something Hope should know since he kidnapped her and tried to get her on a helicopter after he got busted for keeping the secret about Beth from her and Liam for months.
Liam feels like Thomas has become Hope’s pseudo-husband in everything but legality and sleeping in the same bed.
Steffy, Get Off Your High Horse!
For the past few months, Steffy has been hellbent on getting her parents back together. Thomas has fallen into his sister’s web. He took the situation too far and framed Brooke for a phone call to Child Protective Services (CPS).
Anyway, Steffy sat at the Hope of the Future fashion preview praising Thomas like there was no tomorrow like he was the only one doing the work. What about the models? Zende who was a co-designer on the line? What about the woman whose name is attached to the label? You know, Hope?
Not to mention, Steffy dared to say Hope had better sell the showstopper. Otherwise, the whole preview would’ve been for nothing. Umm. She’s not a designer, but she has modelled showstoppers before herself. She uses her body to get what she wants and thinks her on-off stepsister is beneath her. That is all she sees Hope as.
Also, if it weren’t for Hope, Thomas wouldn’t have had work to begin with. Steffy needs to shut up and keep to the corporate stuff. Hope For The Future is HOPE’s line. NOT Thomas’.
The Forresters Gush Over Thomas And Hope Being Perfect Parents To Douglas
Finally, the thing that set our teeth on edge is how Ridge, Zende, and Eric fawn over how perfect Thomas and Hope’s little family was. The one person we felt sorry for in this situation was Donna who had to stand there and take it. Though, good for her for voicing her opinion that ‘single dad’ Liam wouldn’t be too happy to hear that. They just ignored her.
Donna is one of the few characters on the show who always makes sense. Well, she and Katie. Oh, and Pam and Charlie. Anyway, Eric and Ridge refuse to see what Thomas is truly capable of. As we mentioned earlier, at least Steffy had enough sense to know something was off a few episodes back.
We do not like whatever the outcome is for the current storylines. We’ll do a more thorough review later, but it will be the same conclusion.
