Friendly Reminder! We Need To Push For Stargirl Season 4 By Making A Splash!

friendly

We’ve all seen the cancellations at The CW, and we need to continue fighting. The CW has lost a LOT of shows in the last few weeks due to their mass cancellation spree. We wrote earlier that Tom Swift has also been cancelled in the last few hours. We were chatting with the Stargirl Wiki after our previous Stargirl post went live, and they sent a friendly thread on Twitter about how we can help our beloved Stargirl get a Season 4.

Before we jump into it, we want to remind you of the ratings from the previous two seasons. We must point out that there is a massive difference between the ratings for both seasons. When the series started, it was broadcast on the now-defunct DC Universe streaming service and then broadcast to The CW via an arrangement.

As you can see in the friendly-looking graphs in the screenshots, the ratings for Season 1 were higher than they were for Season 2. To the best of our knowledge, these included the streaming numbers. We’re not 100% sure on that, though. Anyway, the first couple of episodes on Season 1 were longer on DC Universe and had to be edited down to suit the guidelines for The CW.

First seasons will generally perform better than any season afterwards. However, Stargirl has done well so far due to several factors outside of ratings. First, streaming is a significant factor in whether a show is renewed. So is social media activity, which brings us to our second point.

Friendly Social Media Usage

Social media is a powerful tool that can be used for good. Stargirl Wiki’s thread says the following. Please click the link that reads ‘Read the full conversation on Twitter’ to read the whole thread:

For those who don’t have Twitter, let us explain what the thread says the following:

  • Use the hashtags and interact! The official Stargirl hashtag is #DCStargirl but be sure to use #RenewStargirl and tag the official Stargirl account @stargirl_cw. Also, if there is a ship you love, be sure to use it with the hashtags we’ve already mentioned
  • Buy the merch, including comics!
  • Stream! Use the CW app or HBO Max if you’re in the UK or a country with access to these services. Australian fans can stream on Stan, which holds many DC properties.
  • Make it trend! When there was a massive uproar over The CW’s cancellation spree, ‘Stargirl’ started trending in a few countries. If we get it to trend week after week, we’ll be more guaranteed to get another season.

Last Reminder!

Before we sign off this article, we need to mention that Stargirl, like Superman & Lois, has a production deal with HBO Max, hence why the CGI is so good. If something were to happen with The CW axing the show, the odds are that the series may become an exclusive HBO Max series like Harley Quinn did after DC Universe was shut down as a streaming service.

If The CW dumps the show, funding for the show would continue via HBO Max as they too finance the show. We’re 100% sure this is what the worst-case scenario would be, but this is what has been described to us.
