The Stargirl Season 2 finale teased a dynamic shift for the Whitmore-Dugans. Stargirl is one of those comic book shows that remains about 90 per cent comic book accurate. That other 10 per cent shifts the dynamic in a direction the audience doesn’t see coming. One example we could include is the extremely slow burn between Courtney and Cameron. Another idea we want to explore is the frenemy status between the Whitmore-Dugans and the Crocks.

As we get close to the premiere of Season 3, we wanted to jump into the dynamic that the upcoming season may explore with Courtney’s family and their frenemies, the Crocks. After all, the season is subtitled “Frenemies” for a reason. So, what chaos could the former villainous family cause? Let’s theorise! Oh, and get some Crock-Whitmore-Dugan moments in the trailer!

The Whitmore-Dugans Didn’t See It Coming!

The Season 2 finale threw the Whitmore-Dugans into a head spin when they discovered their new neighbours were the Crocks. We mentioned in an article after the finale that Courtney had pulled a Tom Holland Spider-Man by almost dropping the F-bomb upon seeing who was standing in her front doorway. So yeah, that would be our response too. Especially when said neighbours turned to kill her, Mike, and their parents on multiple occasions.

Icicle sent Paula and Larry to kill the family to prevent them from stopping Project: New America’s completion. Meanwhile, Artemis has had multiple run-ins with the JSA at school. Finally, at the end of Season 1, Paula and Larry are sent to prison. Artemis, meanwhile, ended up in a foster home where the foster mother didn’t care about the kids because all she wanted was the money.

Season 2 didn’t give us much of the Crocks except when they broke out of prison to see Artemis’ football tryouts, ending up in flames because of Cindy and Eclipso’s interference. However, Cindy calls the family back to Blue Valley for the final fight with Eclipso.

Then, the stinger came. The family ended up moving next door to the Whitmore-Dugans, and well, you know the rest.

How Will The Two Families Cohabit, Despite Their Run-Ins?

Given the history between the Whitmore-Dugans and the Crocks, the two families will need to learn how to cohabit fast! They’re going to be seeing much more of each other. Not to mention, Pat will be overly uncomfortable when he sees Crusher whenever he walks out his front door. Yikes! Then, we get Barbara and Paula suddenly relating to raising teenage daughters. Man, that sticks in our minds more than we’d like.

For our boy Mike, he has to deal with Paula AND Larry hanging around his parents and not forgetting they kidnapped him on his paper route. Finally, we get Courtney having to keep her guard up at school, where Artemis threatens to kill her when she accidentally flips her after thinking she was going hit her with a hockey stick. Let’s not forget that both families were targeted by Eclipso to some extent.

The Crocks hanging around will be a sore spot for the JSA, especially Rick and Yolanda. However, Beth might be more willing to give them a chance, while Cindy, who we believe is a member now, will be indifferent about it. We spoke about it in our article on the Season 3 teaser.

Depending on whether there is a time jump at the beginning of the season, we might not have to see the families struggle to adapt. It could’ve happened offscreen, but the Whitmore-Dugans instinctively have to continue watching their backs.

Could It Be A Case Of JSA v. ISA?

So, what if the Whitmore-Dugans and the JSA refuse to cohabit with the Crocks? Could it revert back to JSA v. ISA? Possibly, but from what Crusher and Paula have said previously, they didn’t like their teammates. We know they didn’t like Jordan or Steven. And Crusher had no love for The Shade.

There’s no doubt the JSA will push back against having the Crocks so close to them. Given that Sylvester is now back in the picture, it will be interesting to see his reaction. There’s the chance that he could be okay with it. On the other hand, Paula and Larry killed some of his friends back in the day. Only time will tell.
