Stargirl: Examining The Evidence – Who Would Want Steven Sharpe Dead?

As we were writing about the ratings confusion, we thought. Steven Sharpe’s death was a mystery waiting to happen. While he wasn’t the most beloved member of Blue Valley’s community, his murder has opened a few avenues. We know from the premiere that he was followed as he looked for his long-lost daughter, Becky. While the evidence is crazy confusing, it does make us wonder a few things. So, the main questions are:

  • Who would want Sharpe dead?
  • What was the murder weapon?
  • How did the death occur?
  • Where did the murder happen?
  • What was the motive?
  • What evidence is there?
  • Was the murder motivated by outside forces?

We can answer where the murder happened; outside, Sharpe’s caravan was torn to shreds. This is a clue too. We don’t have a ton of evidence just yet, but from what we do know, the evidence stands as follows:

  • Sharpe’s destroyed trailer. Man, we hope he had a life insurance policy or another sort of insurance for the trailer.
  • The gun.
  • The promo for Episode 2 mentions that Sharpe’s laptop is missing.
  • The baby picture of Becky.

That’s all the evidence we have for now.

It’s unclear how Sharpe died. Given he was attacked by something strong enough to destroy his caravan, we’d have to say it was also what killed him, not the gunshot that was heard. We didn’t get a good look at the body, but we couldn’t see a gunshot wound from what we saw. Of course, we could be wrong, but hopefully, episode 2 gives us more information.

In the episode, a backfiring car was heard outside Sharpe’s caravan. In our breakdown of the outbreak (linked above), we suggested the backfiring vehicle could’ve been Rick. We still have reason to believe this. The reason for this is due to the fact we don’t see many characters driving. We’ve seen Pat and Sylvester drive, but that’s as far as it goes.

We’re not including Jordan Mahkent, as he’s dead.

The photo of Becky as a baby could be evidence, too, as we don’t know where it came from. Did Her mother send it to Steven? Did Steven find a photo online of her? Whatever the case, the story will unfold in a way that will surely surprise us. For all we know, Mister Bones (who we know will show up eventually) ordered Becky to kill her father.

Did Cindy Kill Sharpe?

In all honesty, we think it is doubtful that Cindy killed Sharpe. The reason we say this is the way that the caravan was destroyed. The JSA took a couple of minutes to get to the crime scene. It would’ve taken longer to kill the trailer. Cindy’s strong, but she’s incapable of that type of destruction. She does have destructive tendencies, but not to that degree. Moreover, the little evidence we have doesn’t line up with Cindy.

A gun is also a feeble weapon for Cindy. It could’ve gone off when Cindy picked it up as Sharpe had been using it to defend himself. Also, the caravan destruction and the attack don’t align with what Cindy is capable of.

If we had to guess, Cindy showed up at the scene, saw Sharpe was dead, picked up the gun, and it went off. The trailer was already destroyed when she got there. Also, she’s not an animal in the sense Grundy is. Speaking of which, there was an animal growl before Sharpe was attacked. Cindy doesn’t have that ability.
