Damn. The Douglas Forrester custody storyline on The Bold and the Beautiful has just gotten more complicated. What was supposed to be a straightforward process has become more complex. To make it worse for Thomas Forrester and Hope Logan Spencer, Steffy Forrester Finnegan has become an unintentional third choice.

Douglas, who has been stuck between his father and his adoptive mother for the last couple of years, has become close to his younger cousins, Kelly Spencer and Hayes Forrester Finnegan, in recent months. But, while he loves his parents and younger sister, Beth Spencer, it has become too much for him to be piggy in the middle.

He’s a little kid and shouldn’t be shuffled between his parents like a stack of cards. While Hope has tried to give Douglas an entirely disruption-free upbringing, Thomas has not made it easy. He has used his son in various schemes to get what he wants.

Caroline Spencer Would Be Appalled At Thomas’ Treatment Of Douglas

If Douglas’s birth mother, Caroline Spencer II, were alive today, she would be appalled by Thomas’s behaviour. Instead, she would applaud Hope for stepping up and caring for her son. She would’ve been pleased that her cousin, Liam Spencer, had stepped up to the plate to be a second dad to her child.

As much as Steffy loves her nephew, it hits her just as hard as it does Thomas and Hope. She went to be a witness for her brother but ended up with a third child. While it is no one’s fault, it does make the dynamic more troublesome.

When Thomas, Liam and Hope returned to the Logan Cabin, there was plenty of finger-pointing. Moreover, Hope blames herself for Douglas choosing Steffy over her and Thomas. Then, we had her husband and son’s father throwing barbs at each other. What makes it even worse is that Thomas indirectly implies that Hope is a bad mother.

Though, it is doubtful that is what he meant. Thomas is well aware that Hope adores Douglas. But, unlike him, she has never used the child to get what she wants. After all, he recently told his son to keep quiet about his [Thomas] role in calling Child Protective Services using the voice changer app to frame Brooke Logan Forrester and get Ridge Forrester back with Taylor Hayes.

Thank God For Steffy Exposing Her Brother!

Thank god Douglas told Steffy what was going on before the wedding went ahead. It also showed Taylor and Brooke that Ridge had created a toxic cycle to be broken. While the two former enemies have become close friends after thirty years of in-fighting, their daughters are quarrelling again. However, this time they will claw at each other over a child rather than a man. Oh, wait. That had happened before when it was revealed that Phoebe Forrester II was the thought-to-be stillborn Beth Spencer.

While Steffy has to tread carefully when it comes to Thomas, she knows that Hope will always be Douglas’ mother in the eyes of the law. Also, she will not allow her brother to use his son for his schemes. Hope has never approved of the fashion designer using the boy, so both women have this in common.

Thomas can cry that he’s changed all he likes, but it doesn’t erase everything he has done. He believes that Douglas should be with him solely because he is the only biological parent his son has left. He doesn’t know how to raise a child without help. You can blame Ridge for not being a positive influence on him as he was growing up. What Steffy decides to do regarding her brother and Hope being involved in Douglas’s life is yet to be seen.
