Daemon Targaryen. The Rogue Prince. Brother of King Viserys I Targaryen. Uncle-Husband of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. Widower of Laena Velaryon. Father of Baela, Rhaena, Aegon and Viserys Targaryen. Stepfather/Great-Uncle of Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey Velaryon. Uncle of Aegon II, Helaena, Aemond and Daeron Targaryen. Over the course of House of the Dragon’s first season, we’ve seen him do many things that we cannot help but question. Also, it adds more context to whether it is a woke series or not.

We bring this up after seeing him choke Rhaenyra after she realises that her father, Viserys, never considered his brother his heir as Daemon didn’t know the prophecy of a Song of Ice and Fire. Instead, the prophecy was handed down from the King to the heir. We’ve also seen Daemon steal the dragon egg intended for her deceased brother Prince Baelon. But he’s not as bad as Otto Hightower, who all but started the Dance of the Dragons with his scheming. So then, we get Aemond responsible for Luke’s death and Rhaenyra going on the warpath over losing her son.

Also, Daemon will do anything to go to war. He loves combat, and Luke’s death is the perfect excuse. However, is he going it for himself or Rhaenyra? It’s possibly a bit of both. However, one good thing that does come out of the Rogue Prince’s theatrics is that he will not allow anyone to beseech Rhaenyra’s claim to the Iron Throne. Look at how he defended her and her sons when Vaemond Velaryon called his wife a horrible name and said her sons were bastards. While the bastard comment is technically correct, this doesn’t excuse him from exercising it in the presence of King Viserys. They would openly defend his daughter, regardless of how sick he was.

Going back to Daemon and his quick dismemberment of Vaemond, you don’t cross him. Like ever. Vaemond overstepped the mark.
