You know you’ve hit rock bottom when compared to a fictional character. Prince Harry has been likened to Daemon Targaryen, Matt Smith’s character in the recently premiered Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon. However, in a piece written in The Times by Camilla Long, Prince Daemon is described as the second son everyone chooses to ignore. Therefore, we’re marking this article as containing minor spoilers for House of the Dragon.

This has to be the most fantastic article I’ve read in a while where someone is unapologetic about how they feel about Prince Harry and, by extension, Meghan Markle. Ms Long does a brilliant job in comparing the Duke of Sussex to Daemon, whom she sees as someone who doesn’t know where his life will lead. He’s not heir to the throne, but the presumptive, who shags every woman he can get his mitts on.

Moreover, we’re not saying that Harry is cheating on Meghan. Not at all. The comparisons between the actual prince and the fictional one are pretty damning. Not to mention, Smith played a serialised version of the Duke of Sussex’s late paternal grandfather, Prince Philip, in The Crown during its first two seasons.

Daemon: Prince Harry’s Westeros’ Counterpart?

Daemon Targaryen tries to set up his own royal court, just as Prince Harry is attempting in the United States. He throws a temper tantrum when he doesn’t get his own way and mutilates a dude’s face with his pointy-as-hell helmet.

Prince Harry, meanwhile, wants to be treated like a prince but chooses to leave and set up a royal court in America, which had to fight to rid themselves of the British hundreds of years ago. This is not the first time we’ve compared the red-headed prince to a fictional character. For example, we’ve likened him to Princess Samantha in the Disney+ movie, The Secret Society of Second-Born Royals.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Matt Smith said that people were going to hate Daemon and that he’s going to “piss people off.” Rhys Ifans, who plays Otto Hightower, says of Matt’s character in the same interview:

Daemon is volatile, violent and impulsive. Any influence he has on the king is detrimental to the status quo.

Rhys Ifans sums Daemon up beautifully. But, in many ways, he’s also describing Prince Harry. He, too, is volatile and impulsive. Is Prince Harry violent? We’re not sure, but we have heard alleged rumours that he has been rough with the ladies in the past.

Prince Harry: The Impulsive One

Prince Harry has been volatile towards anyone who doesn’t openly accept Meghan by calling them racist and bigoted. He has also accused his sister-in-law, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, of “not being more welcoming” to his now-wife. Before that, he accused his big bro, Prince William of being “a snob.”

We also know he’s impulsive. Allegedly, he threatened to call the entire family racist, including The Queen, if he wasn’t allowed to marry Meghan. Then, he refused to wait until he got to know her. He overplayed his hand—big time.

In the Game of Thrones universe, you can’t be too cocky; that is what Daemon is. He’s so self-importance that it could get him killed. Even non-fans know the perils of wandering around Westeros. Ned Stark had his head removed from his body like Anne Boleyn.

While Harry’s life is nothing like Daemon’s, where he’s in constant peril, though he likes to think he is, there’s so much more to his paranoia and delusions of grandeur. A recent article by the Express details how Harry despises being the spare. Of course, we all know there’s a curse on most British royal spares. Fingers and toes are crossed that Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will be able to break it. They’re being raised equal to their older brother, Prince George, even though they will likely never see the throne.

All-Out War Is Brewing For Daemon Targaryen?

Going back and concluding with Daemon Targaryen, if Matt and Rhys are correct, and we suspect they are, his unlikeability will be off the chain. He’ll be like Joffrey Baratheon was in the original series, which is set 200 years after House of the Dragon. But, then, he was why Ned Stark lost his head, leading to an all-out war.

If Daemon is as bad as that, he’d better watch out. Going back to the actual royal, Prince Harry has started a war of words, thanks to his wife. His bitterness and jealousy have caused him to come undone. He has revealed the ugliness he has been hiding for almost forty years.
