In the recent iCarly episode, iGo To Toledo, Carly, Millicent, Harper, Marissa [Benson – Freddie’s mother] and Danica [with the beret from book club] head to Ohio for Mrs B’s bachelorette party. Meanwhile, Freddie recruits Spencer, Paul [Carly’s manager], and groom-to-be Lewbert for a disastrous bachelor party.

As Carly’s relationship with Freddie continues to grow, she struggles to get his mother, Marissa, on her side. They’ve had a love-hate relationship forever, but she doesn’t realise that her potential future mother-in-law has a few issues with letting her “little boy” go. This is strange because he’s been married twice already. She had no problems back then, as far as we’re aware.

However, Freddie’s second wife, Gwen, mentions in ‘iLove Gwen’ that her former mother-in-law had a ton of rules, including no laughter after 9pm. This was something that Carly was aware of, given that she’d known Marissa since she was a pre-teen.

Carly plans the bachelorette party around Marissa’s favourite show, Toledo House Flip. For those, who haven’t paid much attention, the show was referenced in the series premiere. Anyway, Danica, Mrs Benson’s maid of honour, was meant to plan the event only for the influencer to take over. Harper luckily says that she has looked over what Carly has planned. Though, this doesn’t mean much to Freddie’s mother. Also, during their ordeal, she has a saying she uses; “Classic Carly.”

The Parties From Hell!

Once the women are in Ohio, they end up trapped “renovating” a house after Carly allegedly signs away their work rights. Throughout the ordeal, Marissa continues swiping at her son’s girlfriend. Millicent, being a minor, doesn’t have the same rights as the others and becomes high on the new “power” she has obtained.

In Seattle, the bachelor party takes an unexpected twist when Lewbert gives Freddie, Spencer and Paul his homemade “Lewb Juice”, which also acts as a “foot exfoliant, ” making them all collapse in pain when they stand up. It even serves as a “truth serum”, allowing them to tell the truth.

Spencer says he likes Ben Affleck’s back tattoo; Freddie wishes Lewbert wasn’t going to marry his mother, while Lewbert reveals he wishes Freddie wasn’t Marissa’s son. Yeah, Freddie and Lewbert still don’t like each other and probably won’t ever, even if their mutual connection is Marissa. It will also depend on what occurs during the upcoming season finale. Could Marissa get jilted and Creddie get hitched instead? We’ll have to wait and see.

Marissa’s Breakdown And The Boys (And Carly) To The Rescue

In Ohio, the ladies are unimpressed with their situation. They can’t contact the guys back home for help since they must surrender their phones. Marissa suddenly breaks down and goes to hide inside a wall.

Freddie receives a text and manages to wrangle the guys, but not before they fall over themselves in pain. This is great fun as it shows how stupid they were to take Lewbert’s advice.

With Marissa inside a wall, Carly decides to go after, even pulling a Bruce Willis from Die Hard by crawling through the wall to get to her. When she gets through, they have a heart-to-heart about Freddie, with Carly hinting that she might someday become a Benson too. This is another potential nod to a Creddie proposal that is rumoured to happen in the Season finale. They break the wall with Marissa pulling a Jack Nicholson in The Shining by poking her head through. Talk about creepy.

The boys arrive in Ohio, pulling a James Bond as they burst through the doorway. When asked how they found the girls, Millicent explains that she got her phone back from the woman in charge of the renovation when she was distracted and texted her father for help. She explains that the code to the lockbox was stupidly easy to guess: 1, 2, 3, 4.

When the woman, Emily, starts freaking out that the women haven’t completed the reno, Lewbert says he’s read the contract and says that in Ohio, employees can quit their jobs even if they’re under contract. He then threatens to have the woman charged with fraud and kidnapping if she doesn’t let her “captives” go.

The guys then collapse again in agony.

Upon returning to Seattle, Paul live streams Lewbert making Lewb Juice on the iCarly Livestream. It causes the few people watching to tune out instantly.

Is Marissa Beginning To Warm To Carly?

To end this post, we must ask whether Marissa is becoming nicer to Carly. Given her behaviour towards Pearl last season when she was Freddie’s girlfriend, it’s hard to say.

There have been episodes of the revival in the past where Marissa was friendly to Carly. One of those episodes was ‘iLove Gwen’ back in Season 1. Moreover, this was when Gwen, Freddie’s second ex-wife and Millicent’s mother, was in town to see her daughter’s play. The second episode where this is evident is the Season 2 premiere, ‘iGuess Everyone Just Hates Me Now’. She shipped Creddie when Carly and Freddie faked a relationship. However, this changed when the truth came out, and she backed “Peddie”, which is Pearl and Freddie.

Marissa’s inability to let go of Freddie has been going on for a while. The Series premiere, ‘iStart Over’, briefly referenced this as she mentions putting warm milk next to his bed at Spencer’s sculpture premiere party.

She also has a significant freak-out during the Season 2 episode, ‘iCupid’, when Freddie and Millicent almost move out of the apartment after Marissa coddles her son and constantly criticises Pearl. However, Millicent was involved with this bit, too, as she didn’t like her either.

Marissa will finally accept Carly as Freddie’s girlfriend and potential third wife. This will be interesting to see when it happens. Finally, the season’s penultimate episode will explore Millicent’s feelings towards Creddie. Moreover, this is the same ep where Mrs B accepts Carly.
