There is a difference between ‘the truth’ and ‘your truth’. Oprah was bias towards the Sussexes in the interview because they are her friends…
We know that Meghan Markle is a compulsive liar and she knew that Oprah would sway the interview in her and Prince Harry’s favour. After all, she bribed her with those overly expensive super latté blends. Seriously though. Who pays US$28 for coffee? That’s just over AUS$36. Only rich people would do that… oh, wait. Meghan and Oprah are rich people. Oh, silly us. *insert eye roll emoji here* The reason we’re here is to address the bias nature of the ‘tell-all’.
Oprah has just jeopardised her reputation as a hard hitting interviewer by not fact-checking anything the Sussexes said in the interview. She just accepted everything as gospel. Here’s what we think she wants to remain on Meghan’s good side. Despite what has been said about how she approached the Sussexes prior to the wedding for an interview, there obviously has to be more to it. Ms Winfrey obviously used Doria as her way to get an invite to the wedding in order to speak with Markle and Harry. However, there wasn’t enough juicy intel for them to share as they hadn’t been together that long so she had bide her time until there was.
There should’ve be some degree of professional courtesy when it came to the questions being asked from Oprah. She didn’t cross examine Harry or Meghan to see if they had their story straight. Also, she shouldn’t have been one to interview them as she is friends with them. That is why the entire thing was bias to paint everyone except the Sussexes in a terrible light. Also, where is her respect? She didn’t once refer to Catherine by her proper name or title. The same applies to Princes Charles and William.
Not An Even Interview
As for the claim where Oprah claimed that Meghan didn’t know what was going to be asked, that has to be total bullshit. The interview’s structure didn’t present as one where it was totally even. There were no follow on questions, just ones move too quickly onto the next subject.
Also, we need to point out that 17 million viewers in America is not that special. When Oprah interviewed Michael Jackson in 1993, there were 90 million viewers. Sure, Meghan and Harry’s popularity has gone up in the US, but a lot of people don’t know the full story. They only tuned in for the interview because it’s Winfrey who is a media magnate worth several billion dollars and bam! They’re instant Harkle fans when they understand how the monarchy works.
Friends shouldn’t interview friends unless they can be impartial. It’s like being a medical professional where you’re not supposed to treat people known to you as it is personal. The same should be enforced for journalists interviewing people they know.
The Truth Is Different To Meghan’s Truth
The whole reason Meghan wanted the interview done was because she wants the world to think she is Princess Diana 2.0. She might claim to have not seen the Panorama interview between the Princess of Wales and Martin Bashir, but it’s clear she has seen it. Everything from the heavy eyeliner to her body language and the parts of her narrative screams Diana.
Here’s the thing, Meghan will NEVER be Diana. Sorry, Sugars but that is the actual truth. She doesn’t scream kindness and compassion. Far from it. In fact, all she does is sow division and twists everything to suit her own narrative. Oprah should’ve reached out to the Palace for comment as any good journalist does. However, she took Markle and Harry at their word.
