Has anyone noticed Beth Spencer is an afterthought on The Bold and the Beautiful? There is so much talk about her half-sister, Kelly Spencer and Kelly’s half-brother, Hayes Finnegan and Kelly’s cousin, Douglas Forrester. So why isn’t there a lot mentioned about Beth?
Well, we believe it’s because the writers often forget Beth. Even casual fans know about the 35-year+ love triangle between Brooke Logan, Ridge Forrester and Taylor Hayes. This was passed over to their daughters, Steffy and Hope, who spent years fighting over Liam Spencer. It still continues to this day.
Despite knowing Steffy is married to Finn, Liam wants her back after seeing Hope kissing Thomas in Rome. This, of course, will thrill Kelly if it happens. But has anyone thought about Beth’s feelings when she finds out? It has been stated recently that she doesn’t yet know about her parents’ divorce. At her birthday party, she praises them while they have to put on a united front. What makes it hard for them is when she asks where her father has been, as he has been staying at Bill’s house. She thinks that Liam has been working.
Brooke, Katie, Donna, Deacon and RJ agree that Beth will be crushed when she finds out about the divorce. Moreover, it wouldn’t be surprising if, when Beth and Kelly are older, Beth will call her elders out for favouring the other kids over her.
Are The Writers Forgetting Beth Exists?
Finally, the biggest problem with this is how the storylines are written. It’s like there was a massive reshuffle of writers, and Brad Bell just forgot Beth existed in the show’s canon. Though, it wouldn’t be the first time this has happened. Does anyone remember the storyline where Taylor wanted a child with Nick and found out that the egg used was Brooke’s egg after the baby was born? The child, whose name was Jack, was given up by Taylor to Brooke because she couldn’t stand the idea of raising her rival’s child. Jack has not been seen or mentioned since 2011. Long before this, Eric had a niece via his brother named Jessica, the older half-sister of Ivy. Jessica nor her mother have been mentioned since they left Los Angeles. When Ivy and her dad showed up at separate times, Jessica wasn’t even mentioned.
