An Urgent Matter Relating To Star Wars Celebration Europe

Celebration Europe, message

It has come to my attention that some Star Wars fans are… unpleasant. Let’s leave it there, shall we? I want to give a massive shoutout to Wookieepedia for getting the word out about what I will share with you all. The message I want to convey is to tell fans to be very careful and report suspicious activity.

A now-deleted Twitter account has been on a mission of trying to rally a mob of angry fans to attack Lucasfilm-associated individuals. Why would they do this? They hate the current projects in the works and have nothing else to do with their time. Again, a massive shoutout to Wookieepedia, who posted a screenshot of what was said. I do have to warn you all that the message is rather disturbing.

I want to send my deepest sympathies to every person who has seen the message. To any of my readers who are at Star Wars Celebration Europe, Wookieepedia is correct. However, please be incredibly careful and look out for anyone with ill intentions. Report anything suspicious to the people in charge, and PLEASE tell the police, as the last thing anyone needs is anyone hurt.

Message Has Been Sent To The Right People To Alert Others

According to the comments section on Wookieepedia’s Tweet, people have been made aware at the event to be on the lookout. However, I have my fingers crossed that nothing comes of the threats. It’s too scary for words that people are this toxic and deluded that attacking someone to cause them harm will get them what they want.

In conclusion, violence has no place in society, and people should be allowed to like things others don’t. This takes me back to the prequel era all over again. I honestly thought that people were better now than they were then. I’m sorry to say I was wrong. I have said this before, and I will repeat it.

No Right Way To Be A Fan

Star Wars has some of the most toxic people in any fandom. Every pop culture category has its fair share. Unfortunately, Star Wars is right up there with the most harmful. I have seen a lot of horrid “fans” in my time reporting on pop culture, but never have I seen toxicity more than with the Fandom Menace. They think they understand Star Wars and should only be one way. There is NO WAY to think of Star Wars. That is what enjoying pop culture is about—having your interpretation of something you love. There is nothing wrong with that. Just because you don’t like something, doesn’t you have to force your opinion down someone else’s throat.

The Fandom Menace see themselves as true fans. But, in reality, they don’t like the franchise; they want people to think all the new Star Wars is horrible when there are people who enjoy it.

To all the Fandom Menace people who might be reading this right now, you aren’t fans. Ewan McGregor was right. Get lives of your own and stop telling people how to live theirs.
