What We Learned From The Ahsoka Panel

Ahsoka, trailer, breakdown

It’s Star Wars Celebration Europe Day 2, and we have the Ahsoka series panel, and it’s so exciting! Yes, we’re obsessed with this show, and it hasn’t even come out yet. Thank you to Bespin Bulletin and Star Wars Holocron for your live coverage.

The Lucasfilm showcase panel was running late yesterday. Likewise, the Ahsoka series panel started late but not as late as the first big panel.

Jon and Dave walk on stage, where Dave remembers creating Ahsoka (the character) alongside George Lucas.

According to the official Star Wars Twitter account, George Lucas always wanted Anakin to have a Padawan.

Jon mentions that he always knew that Dave’s dive into live-action would include his original characters. Moreover, Dave then confirms that George wanted Anakin to have a Padawan.

Rosario walks out on stage accompanied by Chopper. Rosario praises Ashley for “bringing Ahsoka to life.” She also says that Ahsoka is not a Jedi but has the heart of one. Finally, Rosario mentions that Thrawn is a formidable force.

Ahsoka: Not A Jedi

The Ahsoka series is not to show the character as a Jedi but as someone who does good in the galaxy while the drive to find Ezra fuels her as their bond is powerful. Therefore, Rosario had to become ambidextrous for the role. She also jokes that she had to get the montral length changed due to the fan response from The Mandalorian. The lekku was originally made from foam.

Jon jokes that Dave sometimes becomes useless as he’s still adjusting to his characters being in live-action.

Rosario says it’s not just a job; they’re living and breathing Star Wars regularly.

Natasha and Mary join the panel. Natasha says that her Star Wars experience started with Rebels, and she didn’t want to look like a fraud, so she trained super hard.

Star Wars Explained says that Chopper is like security.

Hera Is Everyone’s Mother!

Mary says that Hera is everyone’s mother. More actual words have never been spoken. She also watched Rebels to prepare for the role of Hera.

Chopper hates other droids and gets distracted too often. Yeah, that sounds about right. Oh, and he hates Lothcats. Why??

David Tennant recorded his dialogue before filming so the actors could interact with his voice.

Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth) arrives on stage to discuss her time as her character in the Ahsoka series. She says that Morgan is loyal to Thrawn and that we will learn more about her in the show.

It is revealed that the Ahsoka/Elsbeth fight in The Mandalorian was on a day when they filmed for 17 hours.

Villains Ahoy!

Ray and Ivanna enter the panel, and that fills the table. Both their characters work for Morgan Elsbeth. Shin is incredibly skilled with a lightsaber. She’s also a padawan (judging by the braid in the trailer).

Kevin Kiner is scoring Ahsoka as he did with the animated shows Rebels and The Clone Wars. The directors will be Dave Filoni, Peter Ramsey, Geeta Patel, Rick Famuyiwa and Jennifer Getzinger. Steph Green is directing, too—eight episodes for Season 1.

Lars Mikkelsen is Grand Admiral Thrawn, like in Rebels. Sabine uses Ezra’s lightsaber, and the Eighth brother possibly appears. Dave compares Thrawn to Sherlock Holmes villain Moriarty.

Timothy Zahn was consulted about Thrawn’s portrayal on screen.

Finally, Purgil, in the second trailer, played exclusively to the panel.
