A woman has been found deceased in a kitchen storeroom at the National Zoo and Aquarium in Canberra. It is believed that the victim was 29 years old. According to 9News, the victim was an employee at the Canberra Zoo and had been stabbed to death. A colleague, a 29-year-old man, has been arrested. He was taken to hospital with self-inflicted injuries and is under police guard.
The victim’s family has been informed of the death. Whether the victim and the suspect have had a relationship outside of work is unknown.
What Happened Inside The Canberra Zoo?
Other colleagues informed staff of the situation, and many became upset with what was happening.
According to one present staff member, the staff had a meeting and were told to go home by the police as they continue to investigate what happened. Moreover, it is currently unclear how or why the situation took place.
The Canberra Zoo will remain closed until the police have completed their investigation on the premises. Furthermore, there is no ongoing threat to any other location in the ACT. However, it is unknown how long the Canberra Zoo will be closed.

ABC News reports that a knife was found at the scene, and the police do not believe some witnesses saw what happened. They’ve also said that people heard screams coming from the kitchen. Furthermore, Detective Superintendent O’Meagher has said that an autopsy will be performed to determine the woman’s official cause of death. As of currently, no charges have been laid against the suspect.
