Star Wars is full of surprises, and this week’s episode of The Mandalorian is no exception. Since the trailers for Season 3 started dropping, we got one scene in particular that raised many questions. This was when Jedi faced a door during the night of Order 66. However, we didn’t know who it was. We do now, and the Jedi isn’t who most people thought it was. So, who is Kelleran Beq?

Kelleran Beq first appeared in the children’s game show Jedi Temple Challenge, played by Star Wars vet Ahmed Best, better known to fans as Jar Jar Binks. However, this would not be his first time playing a human character.

Ahmed played Achk Med-Beq, in a cameo role in Attack of the Clones. The character of Kelleran Beq was created for the game show. We honestly thought he was a one-off character, but no. He’s now the dude who rescued our favourite little green foundling.

Chapter 20: The Foundling gives the audience a lot of questions to mull over now that they have an answer to who rescued Grogu from the Jedi Temple.

Nicknamed the Sabered Hand, Kelleran had help from Naboo security forces who were present on Coruscant. He takes a Naboo cruiser to parts unknown with Grogu, telling the younglings he has friends who can help. Unfortunately, this is the last we see of him in the episode. So, who are these friends? Could we get another appearance by his faithful protocol droid, AD-3? Could one of these friends be Ahsoka Tano? Barriss Offee, even? Perhaps Captain Rex? Maybe Mace Windu survived his fall out of the Palpatine’s office window. Who knows.

Hopefully, the next half of the season will give us more insight into Kelleran’s role in Grogu’s rescue. If Ahmed is at Star Wars Celebration Europe in a few weeks, he might provide us with an answer.
