The Princess And The First Lady
Ahead of Her Majesty The Queen’s state funeral, her granddaughter-in-law, Catherine, the new Princess of Wales, has recently met with the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, at Buckingham Palace, as per the BBC. The First Lady will allegedly attend the state funeral on behalf of her husband, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This is currently unconfirmed. He has opted to remain in their home country to continue the fight against Russia.
Moreover, this is the second time The Princess of Wales has met the First Lady. What Kate Wore reports that the former Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met Olena and President Zelenskyy in October 2020.
Ms Zelenksa has also paid her respects to Her Majesty The Queen by visiting Westminster Hall. Ukrainian delegates joined her.
In other Wales news, Prince George and Princess Charlotte will attend their great-grandmother’s funeral alongside their parents. However, their younger brother, Prince Louis, is not expected to participate due to his age.
The Wales family have participated in many memorials since Her Majesty’s passing. Recently, The Prince of Wales, along with his brother, Prince Harry and their six cousins, joined together as Her Majesty’s grandchildren in Vigil of the Grandchildren.
Prince William said a few days ago that when the children were told of their great-grandmother’s passing, George understood, but Charlotte and Louis couldn’t grasp what was going on in its entirety. Of course, this is to be understood, given how young they are.
Given that Charlotte is seven and Louis is four, they will come to understand as they grow older. But, with all that being said, the Wales children will be told stories of their great-grandmother and how much she loved them. Catherine said once that Her Majesty would leave the children treats whenever they were at Balmoral with her.
