Promotional material has started to drop for House of the Dragon Season 2, and Rhaenyra and Alicent are about to face off. From a close friendship that was as close as siblings to betrayals and blackmail (mostly from The Dowager Queen’s horrid father, Otto Hightower) the two warring Queens will be out for blood during the upcoming new outing.
Rhaenyra, at the end of Season 1, discovered from her uncle-husband Daemon that her son, Lucerys, had been killed by her half-brother Aemond. This loss occurs after Rhaenyra learns of the death of her beloved father, Viserys and delivers a stillborn daughter, Visenya.
Alicent, meanwhile, has yet to learn what is in store for the Greens. Daemon will want payback for Luke’s death. She also remains paranoid that her stepdaughter will come for the heads of her children and grandchildren, hence why she had her son, Aegon, crowned king, despite Rhaenyra being the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.
What We Know About The Season 2 Premiere Episode Of House Of The Dragon
House of the Dragon Season 2’s premiere episode will be titled, according to Deadline, A Son For A Son, a reference to the Blood and Cheese storyline from the novel Fire and Blood. Blood and Cheese’s involvement has been confirmed for a while and was quite horrifying in the book as they go after Helaena. We won’t reveal anything else for those who haven’t read the book. The scene in question (in the book) takes place in the chapter The Dying of the Dragons: A Son for a Son.
The New House Of The Dragon Season 2 Trailer
In the first trailer for House of the Dragon Season 2, we see how drastically things have changed. The new season picks up where Season 1 left off by the looks of it. Rhaenyra and Daemon are looking for Luke’s remains so they can bury him.
As we saw in the finale of Season 1, Daemon broke the news of Luke’s death to his wife. As you can imagine, she was devastated. We see this continue in the trailer for Season 2 as Rhaenyra looks dishevelled like she hasn’t slept. There are also glimpses of the other characters and a voiceover from Otto Hightower. We also get a look at the toll that the Dance of the Dragons is taking on Alicent as well.
We could see a glimpse of the Blood and Cheese sequence because there are a couple of shots of Helaena. One of them shows her being held at knifepoint. Moreover, this happens during that scene in the Fire and Blood book, which the show is based on.
Does Rhaenyra Have Scars?
Another interesting aspect of the footage is that Rhaenyra appears to have scars on her face. Or her hair is stuck to her face, but that seems unlikely given what’s happening. There are at least two execution scenes from what we can see. One is done by Ser Criston Cole and the other by Daemon.
Speaking of Daemon, there is a shot of one of his daughters on the back of her dragon, letting out a fierce scream. In the previous season, Baela and Rhaena didn’t do that much when they led very different lives in the books. We also see Rhaenys and Corlys, too.
There is no doubt that Alicent will realise that Rhaenyra and Daemon are not a couple you want to mess with. Finally, given that Luke’s death was accidental – it was on purpose in the book – Aemond is going to have to face the consequences of killing his nephew.
