For the first highlights article for S02E01, go here. Meghan’s sister, Grace, begins to ask questions about who Ben’s father is after Meghan tells her to end her relationship with her one-night stand, Simon. Meanwhile, Lorelei’s podcast blows up, and the tide turns in Agatha’s favour. Elsewhere, Jack’s mistress, Rhea, continues to extort him.

(Just a heads up on this article, much of the plot is jumbled up due to trying to avoid short sections.)

1. The Police Continue To Question Meghan

In the present, the female detective in charge of the homicide hands Meghan a jumpsuit and tells her to clean up. One of the male detectives asks if there’s enough to charge her. The woman says she’s trying to work out a motive. Moreover, the man says she does not deny the murder. The lady adds that Meghan hasn’t called for her lawyer either.

The second male detective said that Meghan would be talking if the death were an accident. The female detective disagrees and says Meghan has no history of violence and had more motive during Ben’s kidnapping. She then proceeds to chastise her colleague for his coffee choice. He argues it’s chocolate chai. She bites back and says his mouth should only be open to interview suspects. The female detective then asks what Meghan told him in the interview room. The man replies, “We were happy”, indicating the one dead is Jack.

2. Jack Worries About Rhea’s Extortion Attempt

Knowing he has to deal with Rhea at some point, Jack lies and says he needs to speak with some sources.

Arriving at Rhea’s house, she offers him coffee, but he says it’s not a social visit. She goes on about how his career thrived when their affair became public knowledge while hers plummeted. She had to give up her business, which she invested a lot of money into. Jack questions how that’s his fault as he didn’t make the affair public knowledge.

Rhea then says she wants $40k for her silence. Jack calls it blackmail, while she calls it compensation for what she lost. Oh, and she hates having to work for someone else. Jack, being the intelligent guy he is, records the conversation, telling his former lady hustle that if she attempts to blackmail him again, he’ll take the recording to the police. While he’ll go down as well, she’ll be going with him.

3. Agatha Learns The Gender Of Her Baby

Agatha lays on a hospital bed as a nurse ensures Agatha’s baby is unharmed. She asks to see the screen, but the guard tells the nurse, “no.” She also asks what the gender is. Again, she is denied. When someone asks how far along she is, Agatha says she’s 21 weeks. The nurse confirms this, secretly prints an ultrasound photo, and hands it to her before telling her she’s having a girl.

When she returns to her cell, Agatha puts the picture on the wall but conceals it behind a newspaper clipping in case someone tries to take it from her.

4. Lorelei’s Podcast Launch

While taking out the trash, Meghan gets a text from Lorelei saying that the first episode of her podcast has dropped. Despite her obvious disgust but forever curious, Meghan listens to the episode. Elsewhere, Lorelei cuts some of her hair.

Lorelei goes so far as to use Meghan’s expletives against her to win over supporters of Agatha’s case. Other people, including Jack and Agatha’s mother, Charlotte, listen to the episode. Elsewhere, Lorelei visits the church elder who raped Agatha in a nursing home.

5. The Hunt Is On For The Father Of Agatha’s Child

The head of the prison is in contact with the minister of corrective services, who demands an update on Agatha and her unborn child’s condition. The guy says that the relationship Agatha had that got her pregnant was consensual. The minister says it’s an abuse of power regardless of whether it was consensual.

With a dozen potential fathers, the head of the prison pulls all the guards together and tells them they can volunteer their blood if they have nothing to hide.

6. Grace And Simon’s Relationship Gets Back To Meghan

Grace scrolls through social media at the house, looking at the comments surrounding Lorelei’s podcast. According to what she finds, Grace says that there’s a backlash against the podcast. Meghan snorts, saying that the podcast will go viral. She also mentions that Jack’s affair will be brought up again.

Meghan then questions Grace why she has stopped telling her about her love life as she used to do it frequently. Finally, Grace’s phone rings and Meghan grabs it, seeing that it’s Simon. In total disbelief that her sister would date her husband’s best friend, Meghan says that Simon is just using her [Grace] because he can’t have her [Meghan].

Grace recounts what Meghan told her two years earlier about sleeping with Simon once. Then, after listening to Lorelei’s podcast, Jack arrives home to see if Meghan is okay.

7. Lorelei Gets The Chance Of A Lifetime

With her podcast blowing up big time, Lorelei gets a surprise phone call from a major newspaper editor. She later brags to her mother that her career has blown up overnight and that her podcast is making her a star. The people want more of the Agatha story.

Lorelei says she still needs to get Meghan to talk or scream at her and that it works no matter what, as people are dying to know more. Meanwhile, her mother questions if it’s a good idea to go after Meghan and her family, especially after the drama they’ve been through. Finally, she swipes at her brother for questioning her as she takes a tracking device out of a box.

Later, she is parked outside Jack and Meghan’s house and waits for Jack and Simon to leave before she installs the tracking device on Meghan’s car.

8. Meghan Tells Simon To Leave Grace Alone And Cuts Her Sister Off

When Simon shows up at the house to get Jack for a game of tennis, Meghan takes the time to have a go at him for dating her sister. She tells him that she doesn’t care if his feelings for Grace are real or not. They already have a problematic dynamic, given that they slept together before Ben’s conception. The secret hasn’t come out in two years, and it’s not about to as far as Simon is concerned.

When Meghan drops Lucy and Lachlan off at school, Lucy hides her face, prompting her mother to ask why. She explains that her peers are talking about her and Jack. On the way home, Meghan gets a call from Lorelei, still wanting to speak to her about Ben. Hastily, Meghan disconnects the call.

While out with her friend Sarina, Meghan tells her about how much coverage Agatha’s story is getting. Grace then shows up to see her sister and nephew. Meghan tells her that she spoke to Simon and didn’t appreciate Grace sending him to talk her around.

Meghan tells her sister to end her relationship with Simon, and she’ll let it go. However, Grace refuses, making Meghan tell Grace that she doesn’t want to see or speak to her.

9. Agatha Refuses To Terminate Her Pregnancy

Back at the prison, the head of the penitentiary arrives at Agatha’s door and tells her he apologises for her “condition.” He tells her that the prison board will arrange an abortion, and the culprit will be dealt with. Agatha tells her that the baby is wanted and that she refuses to have a termination.

The prison head says he cannot guarantee Agatha’s safety or her child’s. The other women discover her pregnancy won’t be suitable for anyone, especially since she is hated for the deaths of Emily and Elizabeth. Agatha is adamant she will be transferred and demands to speak to her lawyer.

Later, she speaks with the guard that allegedly got her pregnant, surprised she’s expecting as she told him she couldn’t get pregnant. He tells her to abort the baby, and she tells him, “no.”

Upon speaking to the lawyer, Agatha learns that a court order from the prison won’t work in their bid for her to terminate. Also, they can’t force her as it’s illegal. Instead, the lawyer says they can use the pregnancy as leverage to get her transferred by telling the court it was rape. Agatha knocks the idea as it was consensual.

10. Lorelei Becomes A Fully Blown Agatha Stan

Lorelei’s podcast continues to make waves and so much so that it reaches the ears of the minister of corrective services. The more episodes that come out, the more Lorelei’s popularity increases, bringing with it her fully realised belief that Agatha is innocent.

As another episode of her podcast lands, Lorelei notices a shift in the comments she’s receiving. While Agatha is still getting a lot of positivity, Meghan’s fans are beginning to fight back. Lorelei’s mother then starts snooping about in her room.

Lorelei follows Meghan to a service station and demands that she give Agatha a pass by not giving a victim impact statement at the court hearing.

11. The Wannabe Daddy Ends Up Dead

After a keycard is slipped under Agatha’s door again, she speaks with Jones, the wannabe baby daddy. He confronts her about not taking her medication, resulting in Agatha knocking the pills out of his hand and knocking him over a railing.

The next day, the incident is reported to the head of the prisoner, where an investigation is done to determine how he died. The hospital said the guy had a fractured skull and was on life support with no hope of survival.

Rocco, one of the other guards, helps her before saying he can’t help her any longer as he’s putting his family on the line.

12. Lucy Causes An Outburst From Ben, Jack Gets Large Scale Speaking Gigs, And Rhea Gets Her $40k

Upon arriving home from a birthday party, Lucy runs to show her mother the balloon she won. When he sees it, Ben says, “Balloon”, much to the surprise of Meghan, who applauds him. This upsets Lucy, who then pops the balloon, causing her little brother to start crying. Jack runs in to comfort Lucy.

A while later, Jack lands three speaking gigs worth $5k each. However, the amount later goes through the roof. When a woman approaches Meghan and congratulates her on the podcast, she takes the compliment but tells Jack she’d rather jump into the harbour than hear Agatha’s name.

At home, a few nights later, Jack wires Rhea the $40k he promised her.

13. Grace Gets DNA From Ben For A Paternity Test

Grace, annoyed with her sister telling her that she can’t see Simon, goes to her mother and stepfather’s house, where they’re watching Lucy, Lachlan, and Ben. She helps with a puzzle her mother and niece are doing before she goes to check on the boys.

She produces a DNA sampler and gets a sample from her sleeping little nephew. When she gets the result back, she confronts Meghan, telling her that she has been keeping Simon at arm’s length because she knows Ben is his son.

During a scuffle with Grace, Meghan accidentally knocks her sister down the stairs, potentially killing her.

14. Meghan Recruits Agatha’s Victims

After the ordeal with Lorelei, Meghan puts Lucy to bed before calling Karen, one of the mothers who lost her baby, to Agatha. She rallies her and the other mother, and they decide to make a joint victim impact statement in hopes of crippling Agatha’s chances of getting her transfer. Unfortunately, this also pushes Lorelei down a few pegs when the sentencing is read out as 25 years in a maximum-security facility.

At the prison, Agatha gives the head of the prison the name of the potential father of her child when Jones, now dead, is ruled out as the father. The Governor says he will support her application for the transfer but only if she gives him a name. She gives him two pairs of socks with underwear inside—both of potential fathers.
