Did the latest promo for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier imply that Steve Rogers is dead?
Could it be possible that Steve Rogers is dead by the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier? That’s what we’re going to be looking into during this post. We’ll be examining what we know about the series and what has been hinted at in earlier films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This post is simply our opinion and nothing more. If you don’t agree, please do not read on or bash this post online. You will be called out and blocked.

What Happened To Steve After Avengers: Endgame?
Okay, so the last time we see Steve canonically is when he jumps back to the present as an old man. Just prior to this, he had volunteered to return the Infinity stones to their time periods. However, he jumps past his timestamp much to the distress of Sam and Bruce. Bucky notices that someone sitting on a bench not far from the launchpad.
The old man is Steve who explains he purposely overjumped the timeline so he could have the life he was meant to have with Peggy. He then gives Sam the shield with the permission of Bucky.
The scene of Endgame is set in the past of Steve and Peggy getting that dance they didn’t get before, allowing for his story to come full circle.
In Spider-Man Far From Home, the kids of Midtown Tech had an In Memoriam segment on their news program and Cap was on it. We know from Betty’s report that the film takes place 8 months after Endgame. However, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier takes place not long after the movie. That brings us to the overall theory.
What The New TFAWS Trailer Shows
In the newest promo for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, there is a few clips that were interesting. There is a shot of uniformed individuals with medals while there is also footage of Sam in a suit with the shield looking sad. He is standing in front of a mural of Steve in his Captain America suit.
According to The Direct, it’s possible that the series will show some sort of memorial to Steve. Perhaps he is still alive, but the rest of the world doesn’t know that like in Spider-Man Far From Home. Currently, we don’t know where in the timeline the series sits. Is it happening at the same time as WandaVision? Could it be set more than three weeks after Endgame?
The first couple of episodes should clue us in like WandaVision did. Though, we’ll get a lot more information faster as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has roughly hour long episodes that would tell the story in six hours. As far as we’re aware the story is six episodes.
What’s interesting about the footage we got in the trailer is that the context of these scenes might not what we think. Steve’s funeral/memorial. It could be a memorial for all the people who didn’t come back from the snap. Or it could be a service for the Avengers that died or even all the lost souls who got caught up in the antics in Westview. It could be anything.
Do We Think Steve Is Dead?
There’s not a lot of evidence to say either way but given that Steve did appear in the tribute video in Far from Home, it’s possible he did die during the eight months between Endgame and Peter Parker’s adventures in Europe. If we had to pick, we’d say ‘yes’, he did pass away but they’re just not telling us.
