Prince Harry almost (allegedly) gifted his youngest nephew, Prince Louis, something special.
It’s hard to believe that Prince Harry was once super close to his brother, William, sister-in-law, Catherine and his nephews George and Louis and niece Charlotte. Since his wife came on the scene, he has drifted further away from those whom care for him the most. Now, the reason we’re here is because we found this rather interesting article by the tabloid, Express. Bear in mind that we’re taking this with a teeny pinch of salt.
The world knows how devoted Harry once was to his family. His eldest nephew and niece adored him and so did his little cousins. Mike Tindall, the Duke of Sussex’s cousin-in-law is believed to have revealed as per Hello Magazine that he [H] is godfather to his and wife Zara (Harry’s cousin)’s youngest daughter, Lena. However, we don’t know anything about his relationship with his youngest nephew, Prince Louis.
We know that Harry once had a close bond with Louis’ two older siblings before their Aunt Meghan entered their lives. The Express reports that the Duke wanted to buy his little nephew a Lewis Carroll Through the Looking Glass book box set. While this is likely a PR piece to make the prince out to be a nice guy, it’s the price tag that is raising alarm bells… it was £24,000. Yeah, we know. That is a LOT of money. Now, apparently, there was a reason for this.
Harry wanted the gift – that he didn’t end up giving Louis after all – to be a tribute to Princess Diana.
It is no secret that the late royal was a very hands-on parent when it came to William and Harry. The Express article also says that Diana loved the classics and instilled this in her boys. The youngest of the brothers allegedly loved A.A Milne, the author of Winnie the Pooh.
Instead of Through the Looking Glass, he gave Louis a 1926 book box set of Winnie the Pooh worth £8,000.
The Little Library
The goal allegedly was to create a little library for not just Louis, but George and Charlotte as well to enjoy as they grew up. Now, we don’t know about you but, this sounds awfully familiar.
In Archie’s first birthday video, Meghan is seen reading him ‘Duck! Rabbit!’ with a sticker that says ‘Archie’s Book Club’.
According to a mushy, sickly sweet story in Harper’s Bazaar, it was media mogul (and Sussex stan), Oprah Winfrey that gifted Archie a whole library of books, including ‘Duck! Rabbit!’. Apparently, this is not the first time she has done this for a friend’s child. She did the same thing for her Wrinkle In Time co-star, Mindy Kaling’s daughter, Katherine.
Finally, we need to point out that we don’t know when this would’ve occurred. Was it when Harry and William were on better terms when Louis was a baby? Possibly would be our answer. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if this was just a PR push to make it look like Harry was the devoted uncle.
