Who Is Hera Syndulla In Star Wars?

Hera, Syndulla, Star Wars, twi'lek, rebels characters

Hera Syndulla is everyone’s favourite space mother. From being the daughter of Twi’lek resistance fighter Cham Syndulla and his wife Eleni to being the surrogate mother of teenagers Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger to becoming the mother of her partner Kanan Jarrus’s son Jacen Syndulla, she has seen a lot in her time. A fierce pilot who can outrun imperial ships, Star Wars wouldn’t be the same without her.

With Ahsoka coming soon, we wanted to explore who Hera was before she became the mother of the Ghost team. For her complete history so far, including her reunion with her dad, losing Kanan, and the birth of Jacen, be sure to check out the above link, which redirects to Hera’s Wookieepedia page.

This post only covers a small portion of Syndulla’s life.

A Pilot Is Born

Born on Ryloth in 29BBY, Hera was one of two children born to Twi’lek resistance leader Cham Syndulla and his wife Eleni; Hera always dreamed of flying. She had a brother who died young. When the Clone Wars became known on Ryloth, Hera was only a child.

Eventually, she became acquainted with C1 astromech droid C1-10P, nicknamed Chopper. She rescued him from a Y-Wing fighter shot down and its pilot killed.

After the war had ended, Hera and her parents came into contact with the Bad Batch, a group of clones with special abilities which weren’t affected by Order 66. Hera became friendly with the youngest member, Omega, a female clone learning to be a child after spending her whole life on Kamino as a lab assistant.

During this time, Hera is kidnapped, much to the horror of her parents. However, she is later rescued and returned to Cham and Eleni.

Hera’s Estrangement From Her Father And Founding The Ghost Crew

Eleni is later killed, and her death causes a wedge between her husband and daughter. In his despair of losing his wife, Cham dedicates his time entirely to fighting the Empire. Hera goes out on her own and takes Chopper with her. They eventually end up with a ship they call the Ghost.

Former Jedi Caleb Dume (later Kanan Jarrus) later joins them along with Gazazeb Orrelios and Sabine Wren.
