D23’s Marvel Cinematic Universe panel has come and gone. The MCU’s Fantastic 4: First Steps cast were not in attendance because production had only started two weeks ago. However, they did a short video to explain their absence, courtesy of Nerderific on Twitter.

Casting
Let’s begin with what we know so far about the Fantastic 4: First Steps cast.

So, far there is not a large amount of cast confirmed, but those we do know include:
- Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic
- Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm Richards/Invisible Woman
- Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch
- Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing
- Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer

Speculation
It is speculated that Natasha Lyonne could be playing Ben Grimm’s girlfriend, Alicia Masters. Though, some believe she might be portraying H.E.R.B.I.E.
Confirmed Fantastic 4 First Steps Information
The film will be set in a futuristic version of 60s in a different universe.
Sue and Reed are married.
The Fantasti-car will appear.
Reed encourages family time.
Fantastic 4: First Steps will not be an origin story. This would mirror Spider-Man: Homecoming which also was not an origin.
Galactus will be the main villain of the film, though it is unclear what role Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer will play.
Michael Giacchino (known for his work on The Incredibles) will be scoring the film. Though, he had to find a way to make the music for First Steps different to The Incredibles.
Matt Shakman will direct the film after the success of his work on the series, WandaVision.
It is currently unknown if Sue will use her married name. The teaser seen at San Diego Comic-Con showed her space suit as saying, “S Storm” rather than “S Storm Richards” or “S Richards.”
The super suits will mirror the 60s comic design, at least in this film as seen in the D23 video worn by Joseph Quinn. The suits will likely change the more the Fantastic 4 appear in the MCU.
Another aspect that will be used is that Ebon Moss-Bachrach will bring The Thing to life via mo-cap. As per IGN, He was sent a message from Mark Ruffalo since he has done it countless times while playing The Hulk, giving him advice not to be scared of the tech.
