Even in death, Vinny is defiant…
[CAUTION: This Post Discusses The Suicide Of A Fictional Character]
The last few months have been difficult for Thomas as he deals with his best friend, Vinny’s unexpected death. However, it appears his defiant pal was determined to give him what he thought Tommy wanted; Hope. We’ve known for weeks that Liam hit the man who switched the paternity results on Steffy’s baby daddy drama. While it looked like an accident and a simple hit-and-run with it later becoming a crime, thanks to Bill’s actions.
In today’s episode, we learn something we never expected; Vinny committed suicide by jumping out in front of Liam and Bill’s car. Thomas is telling his cousin, Zende about his phone trouble and he hands the device over to see if he can fix it. After getting it back, he finds a bunch of missed texts, a lot of them from his late friend.
Not understanding the context of the messages, he sees that Vinny left him a video telling him that he’s ‘leaving’. To Thomas’ horror, he sees his defiant friend step out in front of the Spencers’ car. This ultimately means that Liam and Bill are innocent of committing a hit and run. But, will the truth actually come out, or will Thomas revert back to his old unscrupulous ways?
What Does This Mean For Bill And Liam?
In the video suicide video, Vinny says he’s been tracking where Bill and Liam have been going. This means that he’s has framed them for his own death. He committed suicide but had it look like a homicide. It has never been a secret where his loyalties lay. He despised Liam to the point he thought switching the paternity results would make Hope run back to Thomas.
When this didn’t work, he framed Bill and Liam for his own suicide. He knew that given what happened with the paternity switch that a jury would believe the Spencers had the motive to get even with him. Bill definitely, but Liam isn’t the type of person who would get even with someone because he was wronged by them.
If Thomas does the right thing and turns the video over to the police, then Liam and possibly Bill could go free. But, there’s the situation with the hit-and-run. They fled the scene of a serious accident where someone died. Not to mention, Bill discarded evidence.
Liam might be let go given he was out cold for most of the run part of the crime. But, Bill is a totally different story. He’s the one who committed the crime of leaving a crime scene. Liam had no control over any of it.
Could Thomas Do The Right Thing Or Do What His Defiant, Deceased Friend Wants?
Will Thomas do the right thing and get Liam (and potentially Bill) out of prison? That’s now the million-dollar question. If he does, then Hope will see him as a hero and as will Douglas and Beth. Not to mention, it would be another reason for Ridge to boast to Brooke that he was right about his son becoming a good egg.
But, if he doesn’t, then it will give his defiant stepmother a reason to vilify him again. What’s more important? Hand in the video that proves Liam and Bill’s innocence in the hit-and-run or will he be selfish again have Hope lean on him and take advantage of her grief again?
It’s totally up to Thomas, but if we were him, we’d do the right thing. We just hope it doesn’t drag out like the baby swap did which only made old Tommy boy look stupid and self-absorbed. Also, if he wants to prove Brooke wrong yet again, then he needs to do what is right for Hope, not himself.
