Crown Prince Hussein And Princess Rajwa Welcome Their First Baby

Hussein Rajwa baby

A massive congratulations to Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan and his wife, Princess Rajwa, on the birth of their first baby. The Royal Hashemite Court announced via their Twitter and Instagram accounts that the future Queen had birthed a daughter, whom they had named Iman.

Interestingly, the name Iman is a common one in the Jordanian royal family. Hussein’s first sister is named Iman, and King Abdullah II has a half-sister named Iman, whom his father, King Hussein I, had with his fourth and final wife, Queen Noor.

King Abdullah II posted a message to his Twitter account, congratulating his son and daughter-in-law on the birth of their baby. Queen Rania also posted to her Twitter account upon the birth of her first grandchild.

Hussein And Rajwa’s Baby Girl Will NOT Be In The Line Of Succession

As per Jordanian tradition, the new princess will not be in the line of succession. Only male heirs are permitted to be heirs and monarchs. In Jordan, the heir to the throne is chosen by the King. The heir doesn’t have to be the monarch’s first male child. For example, upon King Hussein I’s death in 1999, one of his younger sons was named Abdullah’s heir. However, in 2009, the new king named his eldest son his heir. Moreover, the position of Crown Prince had sat vacant since 2004.

Moreover, Prince Hashem, is the next in line for the throne after Hussein. However, when Hussein becomes king, it will be his decision whether he names his brother as his successor. Though it will depend on whether Hussein and Rajwa have a baby son in the future.
