Cloris Leachman has died aged 94…

Just days after the death of journalist and talk show king, Larry King, we have received the news that Cloris Leachman, the actress who played Princess Diana/Wonder Woman’s mother, Queen Hippolyta in the 70s Wonder Woman series has died.

In her life, Cloris won eight Primetime Emmy Awards from the twenty-two she’d been nominated for. Other award wins include an Oscar, a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy.

Moreover, one her biggest roles was on the Mary Tyler Moore Show as Phyllis Lindstrom. She also had roles in Raising Hope and Malcolm in the Middle.

Other projects Cloris was involved through her decades long career include:

  • The Simpsons
  • The Croods and its sequel as the grandmother
  • The Love Boat
  • The Twilight Zone
  • Phineas and Ferb
  • Bob’s Burgers

There’s so many we could talk about but won’t. One of his greatest achievements was herself. She was mother to five children, a number of grandchildren and at least one great-grandson. Cloris’ granddaughter Annabel is a singer.

She was also a lifelong animal activist and vegetarian. When she was married to George Englund, she knew Marlon Brando, Judy Garland, Sid Luft as well as Garland and Luft’s two children, Lorna and Joey during the 60s.

Cloris was also a well-known comedienne. She even did a parody of the famous Vanity Fair photo shoot with Demi Moore on the cover of Alternative Medicine digest where she posed nude during a 1997 issue. She also posed for PETA and she wrote her bestselling autobiography with her ex-husband, George Englund which was released in 2009.

In her final years, Cloris was a contestant on the American version of Dancing with the Stars where she was partnered with Mark Ballas.

She died of natural causes with her daughter, Dinah at her side.
