Ahsoka’s Relationship With Luke Reminds Us Of Her Bond With His Father

Ahsoka, questions, Star Wars

Well, it’s happening, folks! We’ve finally decided to write Star Wars content for the blog. We thought it was time, especially since we got a special surprise this week on The Book of Boba Fett. Our favourite Togruta, Ahsoka Tano, made her second live-action appearance in the episode directed by Dave Filoni and she has a connection to Luke Skywalker. What’s intriguing about her popping up is that we didn’t expect it.

We expect to see THE Luke Skywalker again after the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian or with Ahsoka, his father‘s former student.

Though, what we loved was that Ahsoka and Luke INTERACTED! This was a massive “pinch us” moment as we fantasised about it happening but never once did we believe it would happen.

The best part was Ahsoka telling Din Djarin that she’s an old family friend. Also, we adored how she addresses Luke as “Master Luke.” Nonetheless, this instantly took us back to her teenage years.

Like Father, Like Son

While it is unclear how Ahsoka and Luke came into contact, one thing is obvious. She sees much of Anakin in him. Moreover, this surprised us because this is the closest she has come to mentioning her former master by name since her live-action debut in The Mandalorian Season 2 episode, Chapter 13: The Jedi.

During her first interaction with Din, he asks her to train his young charge, whom he learns is named Grogu. She refuses as she fears the child will turn to the Dark Side. When Djarin protests, she comments on seeing what training can do to fully-trained Jedi, indirectly referencing Anakin’s fall to the Dark Side.

However, when we jump over to Luke’s training of Grogu, she’s more spritely and energetic. At first, we thought she was just there to chat with Mando. However, it surprised us when she walked out of the clearing to join Luke in watching Grogu’s nap. She jokes that he’s a lot like his father, which catches him off-guard.

What’s more, this would’ve been the first time anyone who knew Anakin in life had noted their similarities.

A Bond For The Ages – Ahsoka And Anakin

Ahsoka and Anakin’s bond went from strength to strength over the short time they knew each other. They squabbled like siblings but loved each other as such. Skywalker trusted his student to guard Padmé if he was unable to, and in turn, the teenager gained a political friend who didn’t see her as an annoyance.

What Ahsoka tells Mando about being a friend of Luke’s family goes much deeper than just Anakin and Padmé. R2D2 was an honourary Skywalker as he had been with the couple through a lot and had watched Leia grow up. She also knew C-3PO, whose memory was erased after Anakin’s turn to the dark side as he might’ve said something he shouldn’t have if he got captured.

Seeing Ahsoka not shy away from issuing Luke advice about Grogu shows how much of his father he has in him. Anakin gave her advice all the time, and her being able to teach him would bring back a part of Anakin that she thought had been lost long ago.
