The Star Wars episodes, commonly known as the Skywalker saga, consist of nine films, excluding Rogue One, Solo and the animated properties, The Clone Wars, Rebels and Resistance. In this post, we will explain what the episodes are and what order they go in.
Please note that this post has the Skywalker saga films in chronological order, not release order. This article will not be future The Mandalorian or any associated shows.
Episode I: The Phantom Menace
The first episode of nine, The Phantom Menace, introduces young Anakin Skywalker, a young slave from Tatooine who has a chance encounter with Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and Queen Padmé Amidala after they crash land on his home planet, Tatooine. Skywalker is also introduced to two figures who will play significant roles: Sheev Palpatine and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The consequences that follow point the entire galaxy to collapse into the formation of the Galactic Empire.

After Yoda dies and after a conversation with old Ben’s Force ghost, Luke learns that he has a sister who has been with him the whole time; Leia. He also realises that he must confront Vader if he is to make peace with his past.
Episode VII: The Force Awakens
30 years after the fall of the Empire, the First Order has arisen in its place. Luke is missing after his nephew, Ben Solo, fell to the dark side. Leia and Han are separated as they cannot deal with their son’s fall. Meanwhile, a new hero arises in Rey, a young scavenger from Jakku.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
As Rey starts training with a reluctant Luke, she must also navigate her mysterious connection to Ben Solo himself, Kylo Ren.
