What are the trading hours for the vulnerable and the elderly at our local supermarkets during the Coronavirus Outbreak? We have the answers.
We didn’t think we’d get asked this question, but we thought we’d answer it. So, earlier today (or tonight) we saw someone tried looking for the trading hours for the vulnerable and the elderly at the supermarkets. It was then, we realised we hadn’t covered it. That’s where this post comes in. Also, Lisa Wilkinson has spoken about it. It will also help with rationing products.
We’re going to break it down, supermarket by supermarket, beginning with Woolies.
- Woolworths: 7am to 8am for elderly and vulnerable shoppers only.
- Aldi: changed trading hours for everyone will be 9:30am to 7pm to allow time for shelves to be restocked and for employees to look after themselves and their families.
- Coles: “Community hour” 7am to 8am. Will close 8pm to allow for staff to restock shelves for the next day.
- IGA: An hour Before normal trading begins
It is currently unclear how long these hours will be in place for. It’s believed IGA has their special hours in place until sometime in April. However, an announcement on the supermarket’s website claims there are no plans to change store hours. The hours for Woolies will be in place until Friday or they might be extended.

We’re keeping an eye on the situation and we hope to provide more answers as they come out, but please! All we want is for people to stay safe and be kind to each other. If you’ve been with us for a while, you’ll know about the #toiletpapergate that has been plaguing supermarkets for weeks. As ridiculous as that is, we’re starting to see that it’s an even bigger issue than we thought it was going to be. There are items we have not been able to get for weeks and it’s because of this panic buying. Stop it, people!
