Courtney becomes… Green with Envy….

[WARNING: This post contains spoilers for Stargirl S02E02: ‘Summer School: Chapter Two’]

Episode two of Season two of Stargirl otherwise known as ‘Summer School: Chapter Two’ will give us a continuation of what happened in the last episode when Green Lantern’s daughter, Jennie breaks into the Whitmore-Dugan house to steal back her father’s lantern. Only this time, it’s going to put Courtney’s envy on full display.

The reason? Jennie is a JSA legacy like Rick is because her dad is Alan Scott, the OG Green Lantern. For much of last season, Courtney believed she was Starman’s daughter, only to discover her father is a conman named Sam Kurtis. An article by TVLine dropped a scene and a bit of information regarding what’s going to happen in the opening of the episode.

Courtney’s Envy Becomes Apparent

So, the scene in question starts with Jennie apologising for the damage caused to the house and says it was never her intention to fight anyone. Barbara blames Courtney which she rebuts saying Jennie is the one who broke into the house and was going to steal the lantern.

Jennie is quick to say she didn’t break into the house and explains the lantern belonged to her dad. Pat questions her and she explains father is Alan Scott. Barbara notices the look on her husband’s face and asks if the name means anything to him.

Pat says it does as Alan Scott was the original JSA’s Green Lantern. Jennie says the ring lead her to the house. She then asks who Pat is and he tells her. She lights up and says he’s a legend which surprises everyone. Then her attention turns to Courtney. Before she can even get a full sentence out, Courtney says she’s not Starman’s daughter or Pat’s – she’s Pat’s stepdaughter. This earns Courtney a sympathetic look from Mike.

When Jennie brings all this up, it’s clear how much Courtney will come to envy her. She’s everything that Court thought she was but later learned she wasn’t. This is seen in the promo for the episode as well.

Courtney is seen questioning whether Jennie really is Green Lantern’s daughter and later she is telling possibly Yolanda how Jennie is now BFFs with Pat. This scene appears to take place after the scene at the Pit Stop because Jennie asks Pat to teach her how to use the ring and then the next scene is in Pat’s workshop.
