Channel Seven has had a serious shake-up with a vaccine mandate being put in place for all employees including, cast and crew on its shows. Reality star turned actress Sam Frost was going to be temporarily written out of Home and Away. Moreover, this was so she could get an unknown medical procedure. After this, she would then get vaxxed in February. However, Wash Online reports the actress has quit her role as nurse Jasmine Delaney.
Sam Frost entered the show in the finale of 2017’s season where Jasmine gets into a car accident. The crash results in the death of policewoman Katarina Chapman and her unborn son with Martin “Ash” Ashford. When Frost was cast, she was criticised because she had no acting experience. Her castmates were quick to defend her, as did former Home and Away star Kate Richie.
Anyone who knows the show will be aware some now big names have passed through the acting gauntlet due to having limited experience. Look at how big Chris Hemsworth and Isla Fisher are in Hollywood. They would not be where they are now without Home and Away.
Fast-forward to now, and Sam has been struggling with her mental health in recent months. A while ago, we spoke about a video Sam Frost had posted and later deleted on Instagram regarding why she wasn’t vaccinated. In our post, we spoke about how reality stars were coming out criticising her without looking at the facts and how it would affect her.
Was The Departure Of Sam Frost Due To The Vaccine Mandate?
Now, we have to question where Sam’s departure was because of the vaccine mandate. Channel Seven has said it wasn’t, but there is no doubt it was. Katherine Davison of 7News wrote that the decision had nothing to do with the new rules.
There is no way the network would admit the truth in a situation like this. Now, we’re not trying to tell people whether they should get vaccinated or not as it is their decision. We’re also not for or against vaccine mandates.
Sam Frost is not the first actor to leave a role. Nancy Dillion of Rolling Stone reported that Ingo Rademacher was fired from his role on General Hospital because he refused to get vaccinated. He is now suing the ABC because according to him, his axing was a violation of his human rights. He attempted to get an exemption on religious grounds to avoid vaccination but the court rejected his request.
Rademacher’s co-star Steve Burton was also fired, according to Variety’s Kate Aurthur.
Returning to the Sam Frost drama, the timing of her resignation is too convenient. She has finished filming her scenes which will air around mid-2022.
