Lady Gaga Explains Why She Didn’t Speak To The Real Patrizia Reggiani For Her Role In House of Gucci

Lady Gaga

God bless you, Lady Gaga. The singer is a favourite of ours as she doesn’t do anything she doesn’t believe in. She has been out promoting her new film, House of Gucci, where she stars as Patrizia Reggiani, a socialite who orders the assassination of her ex-husband.

The film, directed by Academy Award winner Ridley Scott and co-stars Adam Driver and Jared Leto, is based on Sarah Gay Forden’s book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. While the film is not as thorough as the book, it gets the point across. Moreover, it shows the type of person Patrizia was when she was a member of the Gucci dynasty.

E! Online’s Kisha Forde broke down an interview Lady Gaga did with Good Morning America about why she didn’t talk to Patrizia while she was prepping for the film.

The singer says that while she researched Patrizia and what happened, she chose not to meet her. She reasons that she didn’t want to glamourise Maurizio’s murder by talking to the person behind it. She said:

I didn’t want to meet her because I could tell very quickly that this woman wanted to be glorified for this murder. And she wanted to be remembered as this criminal.

Lady Gaga on why she didn’t meet Patrizia.

Lady Gaga had every right not to approach Patrizia.

Regarding Maurizio’s murder, Patrizia has never admitted whether she ordered the hit on her ex-husband. However, there was enough evidence to convict her.

Patrizia Shows Her True Colours As Wanting To Be The Face Of A Murder

As Lady Gaga says in the full interview on Good Morning America, the IRL Patrizia wanted to be seen as the face of Maurizio’s murder and would’ve glamorised how she got into character. So, by not meeting her, it would’ve made it simpler without there being any additional pressure.

Having Patrizia complain Lady Gaga didn’t speak with her shows that she hasn’t learned her lesson. A ton of media has depicted her [Patrizia] as someone who doesn’t understand the definition of “no.” We’ve been listening to the three-part podcast series by Wondery’s Even the Rich podcast, and it even gives a damning look at who she is. She said her daughters want nothing to do with her. Additionally, she’s never met her grandsons.

Lady Gaga gave an interesting take on why Patrizia had Maurizio murdered. She said that while the media painted her [Patrizia] as a golddigger and thirsty for status. Ultimately, she believes that the Black Widow knocked off her ex-husband because of love. Essentially, it was Patrizia’s thought that if she couldn’t have him, no other woman could either.
