Ninja Turtles Names And Their Colours

Ninja Turtle names, colours

What are the Ninja Turtles’ names, and what colours are they associated with? That is what their post will explore. Our goal is to give you a beginner’s look into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, their names and their mask colours.

Please bear in mind this will only be the core four Ninja Turtles’ names and colours and not characters who have been added years later.

Fun fact: When the Ninja Turtles were first colourised, they were all given red masks. There was also a storyline where Splinter gives three of his sons different masks, making it easier to tell them apart.

Another piece of trivia is that Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird never gave the turtles an age order. The age order was invented for the screen media. The well-known rivalry between Leo and Raph was also introduced in the 1990 TMNT film. This was continued into other media, including the comics.

All four turtles were named after Renaissance painters favoured by Splinter, depending on the media.

So, let’s begin.

Ninja Turtles Names And Colours

Blue – Leonardo “Leo” – the perceived eldest of Splinter’s sons – leader

Red – Raphael “Raph” – the second-eldest and the hot-head

Purple – Donatello “Donnie” or “Don” – second youngest – the smart one – depending on the media, the second in charge after Leo as he’s more mature than Raph and Mikey put together.

Orange – Michelangelo “Mikey” or “Mike” – youngest – the lovable one who has a big heart and loves pizza probably a bit too much.
