Will the puff pieces ever stop? The Mirror was told in February that the Sussexes could make their MET Gala debut this year. This is where I come in and say that is total crap. Why do I think that? Anna Wintour, who organises the event, is a big name in the British fashion industry and was given a Damehood in 2017. In 2019, she said she loved Meghan’s fashion, but there’s nothing from her since. Whether she has changed her tune since then, I don’t know.
So, that makes you wonder why is this stupid puff piece even out in the ether. It’s pretty simple because their current PR is terrible. Also, if Anna Wintour were team Sussex, she would’ve declined the damehood. But given that everyone in Hollywood has (well, most people – looking at you, Jameela Jamil) harkened onto how shallow and unsympathetic they are to other people’s privacy. Look at what Harry wrote in Spare about taking drugs at Courteney Cox’s house and talking to her toilet. She has since come out to refute that she had had shrooms around her house. However, she did acknowledge that he did stay at her home. So that’s something.

Anyway, if the Sussexes did go to the MET Gala, they would be snubbed by every celebrity there. Some might engage in polite small talk, but that is all they would get. After all, Hollywood is a tiny community and isn’t as big as you may think. The news carries quickly; if people discuss your bad behaviour, it will be in the wind. That is why attending the MET Gala would be off the table.
The last thing Meghan wants is rejection. After all, she was snubbed from Hollywood when she was on Suits. Mostly because she wasn’t talented enough, but people were too scared to tell her.
