The best friend of Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, Jessica Mulroney has been called out for flaunting her power and white privilege. Her accuser is lifestyle blogger, Sasha Exeter who happens to be an influential black woman.
We were only made aware of this a few days ago and thought we would comment on it. As the BFF of a biracial member of the British Royal family, Mulroney should’ve known better. Meghan is believed to be ‘mortified’ by what Jessica has said and is reportedly cutting ties with her.
Now, to add more context to what happened, let’s do a deep dive.
What Actually Happened Between Sasha Exeter And Jessica Mulroney?
According to Sasha, Jessica took ‘offence’ when she [Sasha] encouraged people on social media to speak out against the injustices that were plaguing society in the wake of George Floyd’s unlawful death at the hands of white police officers. Mulroney mistook this as a ‘personal’ threat and threatened to sue her.
Exeter was making a generic call-to-action to speak up against injustice. It had zero to do with Jessica.
It’s Not About You, Jessica!
White privilege is a massive problem and it cannot be denied. We need to ask the question of what makes people who flaunt the colour of their skin better than anyone else?
Here’s the thing. It doesn’t matter what colour your skin is. You should have the same rights as everyone else. In the case of Jessica Mulroney, she just assumed Sasha’s call-to-action was about her. The reason? Because she is ultra-rich and privileged. Despite having apologised, she is still isn’t forgiven for how she treated Ms Exeter.
Sasha said in her video, which you can see here at this link, that Jessica not once showed support for Black Lives Matter. She [Sasha] mentioned that Mulroney didn’t view it as ‘important’ enough. Not to mention, her best friend is the most famous black woman in the world. Ms Exeter also took a swipe at how the stylist has been promoting her show, I Do, Redo without even mentioning #BLM.
Since the allegations against Mulroney came out, she has been fired from GMA (Good Morning America) and I Do, Redo has been cancelled. This is exactly what she feared would happen if she supported Black Lives Matter. In her eyes, her job and wealth were more important.
Meghan’s Alleged Response
Jessica Mulroney’s best friend is Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex. Their friendship seems to be in shambles. We mentioned that Prince Harry’s wife is believed to be mortified.
However, this is not confirmed as the report came from tabloid newspaper, The Daily Mail. Meghan has not commented on the scandal herself so we don’t know if this comment is true or not. If this did happen, then Mulroney has lost herself a friend. This probably wouldn’t matter to her anyway given she has other wealthy pals.
Meghan’s friendship meant a lot to Jessica as she was allowed to babysit little Archie. This apparently occurred when the Duchess and her husband briefly returned to the UK to complete their last public engagement. Though, if the stylist cared about the former actress, she should have thought about how her words to Sasha Exeter would’ve affected her if the news got out.

It’s one thing to be the best friend of a British Royal, but it’s something else entirely to threaten an associate who happens to have a different skin colour. We have every reason to believe that Jessica Mulroney considers herself fortunate because of her white privileged background. Let’s review, shall we?
First off, she was born Jessica Brownstein, the daughter of Stephen Brownstein who descended from the founder of Browns Shoes and is a shoe mogul. Fashion was always going to engrained in her DNA.
She is also the wife of television personality Ben Mulroney whose father is Brian Mulroney, a former Prime Minister of Canada. One of her sister-in-laws is Vanessa Mulroney who is a former journalist for society gossip rag, Tatler. Jessica has dressed everyone from BFF Meghan to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, the wife of Canadian PM, Justin Trudeau.
While having a load of connections is great and all, it’s not fun when you accuse people of saying something about you when the comment they made wasn’t even aimed at you personally. God, you’re a 40-year-old woman who has a load of influence and you can’t even read between the lines of a social media post? That’s stupid as hell!
Also, posting a statement and a website link to your Instagram account does not make up for what you said to Sasha.
