According to our Google Search Console stats, one of the searches people have been looking at is whether Astrid Hofferson appears in the How to Train Your Dragon books. Well, that’s what we’ll be looking at in this Book Haven post.
The reason we’re doing in Book Haven and not Animated Films and Television is because we’re looking at the books, not the screen media.
Is Astrid Hofferson In The How To Train Your Dragon Books?
So, to answer the question, Astrid Hofferson is NOT in the books. However, there are aspects of the character that appear in the books. The first is Camicazi, who is a friend to Hiccup. She is described has having blonde hair.
Astrid is blonde in the screen media. Both also have blue eyes. Camicazi also has a dragon named Stormfly, as Hofferson does.
Cressida Cowell, who wrote the original How to Train Your Dragon books, has said that Astrid Hofferson is the screen version of Camicazi. However, Ruffnut Thorston, created for the screen and doesn’t appear in the books, also has similarities to Camicazi.
Another aspect of Camicazi that was given to Astrid is her fierceness. If there is one thing we know about Astrid is that people don’t seem to realise how fierce she is, especially Snotlout, who, in the earlier media, i.e. the first film and the early television show episodes, is constantly flirting with her, and embarrasses to the point he gives up pursuing her.
