First Trailer For Madame Web Confirms Some Casting Rumours

Madame Web casting rumours

We got the unexpected drop of the first Madame Web trailer, and some of the casting rumours have been confirmed. So, we’ve known for a while that Dakota Johnson will be Cassandra Webb. However, the trailer reveals she’s a paramedic, a massive departure from the comic version of the character. A few weeks ago, we did a post on the rumoured castings for the film. We’re also aware that Sydney Sweeney will be Julia Carpenter, a version of Spider-Woman.

However, what we don’t have yet is a full synopsis. However, it has been rumoured that the film will focus on saving the lives of women or people who will be vital to the future, including Mary Parker, the mother of Peter Parker.

The trailer confirms the following:

  • Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon/Araña
  • Celeste O’Connor as Mattie Franklin/Spider-Woman
  • Tahar Rahim as Ezekiel Sims

However, the characters of Adam Scott, Emma Roberts (who doesn’t appear in the trailer), Zosia Mamet and Mike Epps have not been confirmed yet.

Uproxx has said that after the trailer dropped, fans started speculating that Adam Scott could play Ben Parker, Peter’s uncle. That’s a good theory, but we won’t until another trailer drops or the film comes out. Despite the casting being unconfirmed by Sony, Scott is listed as Ben Parker on the film’s IMDb page. The same applies with Emma Roberts’ potential casting in Madame Web as Mary Parker.

The Ben Parker – Madame Web Casting Rumours

Is it possible that Adam Scott is playing Ben Parker? Absolutely, and there’s a reason why this is plausible. In the comics, Madame Web was an anti-hero who first appeared to help Spider-Man stop a kidnapping. The film will set up the character’s more heroic origins. Also, the UpRoxx article says that it appears the movie is setting for Webb to be close the Parkers and the other women who are destined to be Spider-Women.

Could the Madame Web casting rumours all be accurate? Possibly. We don’t know one hundred per cent until the movie’s release in February 2024.
