Darth Vader is the perfect villain for Obi-Wan Kenobi As the former apprentice of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader will have a significant role in the adventure that is about to unfold. Kenobi will be forced to confront his former friend once more, where a second duel between them will happen.

There are so many reasons why Darth Vader will be the perfect villain for Obi-Wan to face during his solo adventure. However, before we go over this topic, we have to stress that this post may contain spoilers for what is to come in the series, so just a heads up.

The Enemy To End All Enemies

Darth Vader’s hatred for Obi-Wan spoke volumes. The pair had once been brothers, so close and yet far apart. Formerly Anakin Skywalker, the Sith Lord, made her obsession with killing Kenobi a priority. However, this came after Obi-Wan made himself known on the Death Star after the deaths of Owen and Beru Lars.

However, the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series will be the first time the ex-friends have seen each other in a decade. By the end of Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan had no idea whether Anakin had lived or died. By the show’s time, he will be either aware of the truth or be about to learn it.

For Obi-Wan facing Darth Vader again will be incredibly personal. As he tells Luke years later, Darth Vader killed Anakin. In a sense, he’s correct. However, we believe that Anakin and Vader were two different people who resided in the same body and were aware of the other’s presence. Why else would the Sith Lord refer to Anakin in the past tense?

During the series, we will see Obi-Wan grapple with the failure of losing his best friend to the darkness and how he failed to see the signs of what was coming.

Darth Vader during the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will be at his most powerful and so full of hate that it fuels his power. As stated before, the show is the perfect place for the Sith Lord because it will showcase the personal struggle of the titular former Jedi. Unfortunately, though, the presence of Kenobi will be a thrall for Vader as he will need to fight to keep the revolving door of emotions that will come from facing the man who was once his brother.
