It was going to happen. We just didn’t know when. Dancing with the Stars Australia has been axed… again…
This is the second time Dancing with the Stars Australia has been axed from our television screens. The first time was when it was canned from Channel 7 in 2015. Three years later in 2018, it was announced that Channel 10 had picked the series up for a sixteenth season which aired in 2019 with a whole new judging panel containing Craig Revel Harewood, Sharna Burgess, and Tristan MacManus along with fresh hosts (and former contestants) Grant Denyer and Amanda Keller.
Rumors had started to swirl of the show being axed when it was announced that judge Tristan MacManus would join morning chat show, Studio 10 as its new co-host alongside already existing host Sarah Harris.
The celebrity dance competition was not announced as part on Channel 10’s 2021 Upfronts, according to News.com.au. Normally, if a show were renewed, it would be included at such an event.
According to the aforementioned article, a spokesperson for Channel 10 told the Daily Mail:
We have decided to hang up our dancing shoes, lycra pants and sequined jackets for the time being. We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all those involved in the show, in particular Amanda Keller and Grant Denyer, who were fabulous hosts, as well as all the judges, dancers, the stars and of course the crew.

The series was axed due to low ratings. But does that mean the series is on the out all together? Not necessarily. A lot of reality shows move networks for various reasons. Look at Big Brother as an example. It was moved twice until it recently landed on Channel 7. Then, there’s The Voice which is also moving to Channel 7 in 2021.
