Flaunting your privilege doesn’t mean you’ll get away with it.
When you’re wealthy, you think the world is at your feet. The privilege you hold often speaks volumes of the person you portray yourself to be. In recent years, an influx of rich women has gotten called for flaunting their disgusting behaviour and getting away with it.
For the woke crowd, this means being allowed to cry victimhood when someone within the bubble of privilege gets called out for whatever reason. That is what we’re going to be exploring in this post. We’ve picked out a few scenarios from recent years to discuss.
Let’s begin with Lea Michele and her antics on the set of Glee.
Hating On Your “Lesser” Co-Stars – Lea Michele
Known for her musical prowess, Lea Michele made a name for herself as Rachel Berry on Glee. She served as the perfect specimen for women’s empowerment. However, in recent years she has become the poster child of status due to her atrocious behaviour.
Lea’s privilege got the better of her when former castmate Samantha Ware accused her of horrible treatment during their time on Glee. Concisely, this occurred when Michele posted a seemingly innocent post regarding the Black Lives Matter movement, provoked after the murder of an African-American man, George Floyd.
Ware explained that Lea made her life “a living hell” and used her privilege to belittle and bully her. A few of their co-stars including Amber Riley and Heather Morris jumped to Samantha’s defence. It then came out that she was not the only victim of Michele’s tyrannical ways. Moreover, this was reported on by Marianne Garvey of CNN.
We spoke about it here on Project Fangirl when the incident came out. It blew us away with how immature Lea’s statement was. She claimed that she didn’t know any better due to her age. Just for the record, when she was cast, she was in her mid-20s. Sorry, but this simply isn’t good enough.
Education Doesn’t Matter When Your Parents Buy You A Scholarship – Olivia Jade
Beauty YouTuber Olivia Jade is the epitome of wealth and privilege. As the youngest daughter of actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, she had everything.
However, in 2019, Lori and Mossimo were arrested for bribing officials at the University of Southern California with $500,000 to get their daughters onto the rowing team.
Understandably, this pissed a LOT of people off. Many took to YouTube to express their feelings towards the situation. A few months later, Olivia got into even more trouble for posting this photo to her Instagram:
It was taken as a big “fuck off” to the media. She also stopped posting to her YouTube channel for almost a year. In early December 2019, she posted a two-minute video where she said nothing about her parents’ court case.
To this day, her “hi again” video has over six million views.
Finally, last year, Olivia went on Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Facebook Watch talk show, Red Table Talk, to address the scandal. It was like she was a different person. Kinda. We watched the interview, and to us, she still came off as entitled. Jada’s mother, Adrienne, wasn’t happy that a white girl was using black women to repair her image.
Moreover, when Olivia got into USC she did a Q&A video where she said she didn’t care about school. Ultimately, this caused a massive backlash, and the video was deleted.
Playing The Race Card – Meghan Markle

However, when Meghan married Prince Harry the actress tossed the family aside.

Though, we have read that she was worth at least $5million in Town & Country. After her divorce from Trevor Engelson, she dated a celebrity chef and would go on a “blind date” with Prince Harry. Not long after the royal wedding in May 2018, stories started coming out about her bad behaviour. At the time, people passed this off as her being new to the royal fold. But, when the stories didn’t stop, the tide of public opinion started to turn.
Just a few days before the Oprah interview, The Times dropped a bombshell. Female staff members had been bullied by Meghan to the point almost a dozen staffers left in quick succession.
During the Oprah interview, Meghan pulled the race card and claimed a member of the royal family questioned Archie’s skin colour. However, when Harry joined the chat, he said the conversation had happened before their marriage. Lady Colin Campbell came out saying the comment was made by Princess Anne, but it had zero to do with race.
Abuser, Not Victim – Amber Heard
Amber Heard has a history of abusing her partners, while her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, does not. We did a post a while ago, about how the privilege this actress holds proves she is not the victim of domestic violence. Most people hadn’t even heard of her until she and Depp smuggled their two dogs Pistol and Boo into Australia without quarantining them.
Then came the news that baffled people; Amber and Johnny started accusing each other of domestic violence. Two of Johnny’s exes, Winona Ryder and the mother of his two children, Vanessa Paradis immediately jumped to his defence, saying he was never violent towards them.
What’s more, is body language expert Derek Van Schaik analysed the interviews with both Amber and Johnny, and his conclusion was pretty damning. His analysis of Heard’s body language shows that she spends most of her time stalling as she eats chocolate. Depp, however, was honest with his answers and didn’t stall for time. He knew what he was saying whilst she was dragging her feet.
Not to mention, one of Amber’s exes accused her of assault but has since retracted the statement.
The Lie – Belle Gibson
Belle Gibson was a teenage mother looking for fame. So, she concocted the world’s largest web of lies. She had a history of lying, but it wasn’t until two journalists were sent an email that exposed the scam.

She used her privilege to make people believe she was the biggest success in the world on a regime of alternative therapies that were not medically sound, nor were they proven to work.
In the years since Belle has continued to find herself in the media after not paying money back and for continuing to lie.
Privilege Doesn’t Mean Influence
When you look at the women we’ve spoken about, you think, are they so bad? The answer to that is “yes” they are. Their bad behaviour is what has landed them in hot water. Yes, people who believe them, but everyone has their supporters.
Having privilege doesn’t automatically mean you’re influential. Using status as the lead star of a project, race-baiting, overall wealth, and total ignorance doesn’t mean you’re special. What you do with your extra-curricular activities is what influences people to follow suit. If you work with underprivileged kids for example, then people will be inspired to raise money or follow the same path. But, it doesn’t help if you’re bullying people and it ends up in the media.
Having a platform of any description doesn’t make you immune from criticism.
