Kate’s struggles are only half the battle as she continues to grasp with killing Cartwright. Meanwhile, a terrorist targets law enforcement while many of the villains re-emerge… in Arkham Asylum.

With Batwoman back from its COVID-19 hiatus, this week’s episode ‘A Narrow Escape’ explores a terrorist threat in Gotham where law enforcement is targeted. Meanwhile, Kate continues to struggle with her decision to kill Cartwright. Also, Kane gets the shock of her life when Mary reveals something to her.

Kate Struggles

Despite being as tough as they come, Kate spends a week on the couch as she struggles with her decision to kill Beth’s kidnapper, August Cartwright. After sharing that intimate moment with Julia, the Bat’s cousin is forced back into the game when a GCDP cop is found with a bomb strapped to his chest and is given a choice to either blow up a bank full of people and save himself or blow up himself up and save innocent lives.

She goes to the home of the son of the original bomber from several years earlier to find out what he knows, thinking he is the one who is responsible for this terrorist attack. However, her theory hits a wall when the bomber’s child reveals to her that his father is dead.

Sophie And Julia Piece Together The Bombing And Lucius’ Murder

As the hunt for the terrorist continues, Sophie and Julia continue their quest for Lucius’ killer. They’re able to link the original bombings from years with the murder of Luke’s father. However, there are still factors that don’t seem to add up so they decide to approach it from a different angle.

Villains Face Off

Alice and Mouse take a bit of a back seat this episode, but they have their own agenda; break out of Arkham. At the beginning of the episode, we see the former Beth Kane in a dreamscape where she is having ‘sister time’ with Kate. She then realises that it’s not real and that she is being tortured by one of the mental institution’s doctors, M. Butler.

Later, we see Alice and Mouse sitting in a mediation circle with a bunch of other villains. We see Magpie and of course, Hush himself, Tommy Elliot.

However, nothing is what it seems. In the corridor after being dismissed for their session, Alice starts a fight with Elliot and she is stabbed in the stomach much to Mouse’s dismay. When she returns to her ‘brother’, she begins pulling the stitches out and reveals her plan to get them back onto the streets of Gotham.

The Identity Of Lucius’ Murderer Is Revealed

As the situation becomes desperate, it’s revealed that a trusted member of the Crows Security team, Miguel Robles is corrupt and framed Reggie Harris, the guy who allegedly killed Lucius. However, this newer guy killed Batman’s tech guy and was simply ‘tying up loose ends’.

Luke hears the whole conversation over Kate’s comms and decides to take matters into his own hands. He arrives at Batwoman’s location and pulls a gun on his dad’s killer. Luke locks down Wayne Tower, and demands to know why Robles killed his father.

Turns out, the guy wanted money from Tommy Elliot and that the villain was obsessed with a journal Lucius was writing and paid a load of money to have the elder Fox roughed up. Luke explodes saying that Robles shot his dad in the chest.

It’s alleged that Lucius’ murder was an accident and Robles explains that if Tommy didn’t get what he wanted, he would turn his sights on Luke. Lucius became outraged at the threat made against his son and charged at Robles before he was shot.

Jacob Blames Himself For The Lockdown Of Gotham

Jacob finds himself in a predicament when he becomes Robles’ target. As Julia and Sophie struggle to disarm the bomb with only a couple of minutes to go, he blames himself for what has happened. He tells them that he started the Crows to protect Gotham, not put it in danger.

Sophie tells Julia to leave but is told the same thing so they decide to stay but for totally different reasons.

Kate Suffers Dizzy Spells Due To Her Guilt And Confesses To Killing Cartwright

As Luke is about the pull the trigger and kill the terrorist, Kate suffers another dizzy spell. It’s here she forces herself to confess to killing Cartwright. She explains that the reason she didn’t want to suit up was because she felt like a fraud.

She begs Luke not to kill Robles as the world is short on heroes. The bomb reaches for the last 10 seconds and begins to tick down. Kate then gives Julia the go ahead to hit the button

Sophie Is Welcomed Back To The Crows And Luke Reveals What His Dad’s Journals Were About

Jacob welcomes Sophie back and gives her an assignment: running a Crows Strike Team. While she says she is humbled, she can’t run the team by herself and she’s recruited Julia to help her.

Back at Wayne Enterprises, Luke reveals to Kate what was in Lucius’ journals. He tells her that his dad had written detailed instruction manuals to ever piece of Wayne Tech ever made.

Kate also reveals why she didn’t tell her friend about killing Cartwright. She explains to Luke that she didn’t tell him because she didn’t want him to look at her any differently. It’s then that she is told that Bruce broke his own code five years earlier when he killed the Joker.

Mary then walks in with her phone, taking about how good Kate looks in the photo of a news article. Luke momentarily panics but is told the socialite knows their secret. But he can’t stop himself freaking out.

Kate tells her stepsister and Luke to work it out between them. As she leaves, Mary puts the tech guru in his place by saying he’s just rambling.
