Arrowverse News: It’s Sadly Official! Arrow Is Ending After Season 8

It’s the news media outlets have speculated on for a while, but today it’s official. The CW’s Arrow is ending after Season 8. The series began in 2012 telling the story of Oliver Queen who gets stranded on a deserted island.

Since the show’s debut, it has spawned two spinoffs: The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Supergirl was added to the Arrowverse lineup after Barry Allen’s The Flash popped in from Earth-1.

In a joint statement to The Hollywood Reporter from the production team on the show. The statement comes from creator Greg Berlanti, current showrunner Beth Schwartz, and co-developer Marc Guggenheim:

“This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of Arrow in mind,”

The three high-ranking producers, showrunner and creator said.

“We’re heartened by the fact that Arrow has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”

The news of a series ending has been coming and going for a couple of weeks since The CW renewed its shows.

In response to the reports of Supergirl and Legends getting the cut, Supergirl still gets good ratings. Though, Legends isn’t as popular as its sister shows. It would be stupid to cancel them. Please don’t take any notice of what these so-called ‘reports’ say. The only time its official is if The CW, actors on the shows and the production team issue statements. For now, our favorite time-travellers and the Girl of Steel aren’t going anywhere.

To end this post on a positive note, we also have Batwoman filming its pilot episode. We could hear some news on whether the series is a go-ahead in the next couple of months. It’s possible Batwoman will take Arrow’s place in the Arrowverse if it goes ahead.

Arrow’s final Season will air in the fall 2019.
