Batgirl: Meet Your New Girl Wonder!

Batgirl

Four years have passed since Batgirl was announced under the banner of Joss Whedon. We’ve already addressed Whedon‘s former involvement. A while ago, we reported that the film now has two new directors. MovieWatchman on YouTube posted the panel from DC FanDome.

Ultimately, we got to meet Batgirl herself, Leslie Grace. There was also a conversation with screenwriter Christina Hodson and directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Farrah. There were also small tidbits revealed about the character and how far into her journey she’ll be when the movie drops to HBO Max.

Barbara will only be at the beginning of her superhero career as Batgirl. So, don’t expect her to be at the level Dick or Bruce are. Also, she will have red hair and will sport a cowl rather than goggles. Leslie is also training, and filming has not yet started.

Another surprise that was sprung on us is that Barbara will have her trademark red hair, which she hasn’t had in live-action. Also, we need to note that this is the first time the Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl has been seen on the big screen. Moreover, the last time the character of “Batgirl” appeared, she was Barbara Wilson, the niece of Alfred Pennyworth in the 1997 film Batman & Robin.

Barbara on Titans has either red or brown hair. Moreover, it all depends on the episode and the lighting.

What Else Do We Know About Batgirl?

The panel didn’t tell us very much. However, it gives us a glimpse into Barbara’s personality. She will be sweet and a girly girl while also being rebellious and capable. Hopefully, once filming gets underway there will be more information.

In conclusion, we’re hoping to learn whether J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as Jim Gordon. Also, it would be nice to learn whether Batman will appear.

We’ve since gotten a look at the new Batgirl suit too.

Batgirl is coming soon to HBO Max.
