Meghan Markle’s Acting Career Didn’t Take Off For The Reason She Claims

Ah, yes. Meghan Markle. A topic we talk about frequently and against our better judgement. We’re aware that our readers are tired of Sussex chatter, and we’ve been trying to ween ourselves off them. However, there’s one point of discussion that is bothering us. Markle’s acting career. We’ve been thinking about this for a few days and thought we’d cover it.

Before we start, we will be discussing race, so if you’re offended by this topic, please do not read any further.

Hollywood Casts Talent And Usually Doesn’t Discriminate

The big wide world of Hollywood has come a long way since the Golden Age. While there is still a long way to go regarding diversity, most casting agents now cast based on talent, not by race. Now, you’re probably wondering what this has to do with Meghan’s (former) acting career.

It has to do with her talent or lack thereof. By the time she met Harry, she had been in Hollywood almost twenty years. Meghan once claimed that she was never “white enough for white roles, but not black enough for black roles” and that there were never any roles in between. Moreover, this is where we’ve come to debunk that claim.

The issue doesn’t always stem from the casting directors. A casting description can have “any ethnicity” on it, as some roles are written to fit anyone. You can audition for a part and not get chosen because your performance wasn’t what they wanted. While this might seem obvious, most people don’t understand how Hollywood works. When casting directors hire people, they usually look at talent, not ethnicity if they can help it. Hence, this is the reason for the “any ethnicity” description.

Meghan’s only significant role was on Suits, where she played Rachel Zane, a biracial lawyer with a black father and a white mother. She also appeared in a couple of Lifetime movies in the lead role. This is barely an accomplishment in Tinseltown. Markle also scored several minor speaking parts in big hit movies, which she got because her then-husband, Trevor Engelson, was a producer.

Trevor Knew Meghan’s Acting Career Wasn’t Going Well And Meghan Using The Men In Her Life

As a Hollywood producer, Trevor had to deal with numerous people. Not to mention, his then-wife was reportedly constantly pissed at him for not agreeing to cast her in his films. After much thought on the subject, we believe he knew she didn’t possess the acting talent for big projects. Another theory is he didn’t want to favour her over anyone else auditioning. Or, it could’ve been a combination of the two.

Let’s not forget that Meghan only for that speaking role in General Hospital because her dad, who worked as a lighting director, pulled some strings. She has only ever used the men in her life to get what she wants. The internship in Argentina only happened because her now-late uncle Mike Markle was a diplomat.

Also, she used Prince Charles to send a message to her ailing father as he lay alone in a hospital bed. Having the future king walk her halfway down the aisle tells Thomas that his daughter was cutting him off because he “betrayed” her for “selling her out” to the press. We all know he didn’t. Oh, and let’s not forget Markus Anderson, Meghan’s buddy who is her go-to for visitation to Soho House.

Being Biracial Wasn’t Meghan’s Problem

In conclusion, Meghan’s lack of talent in the acting department was her problem. Not her race. Plenty of biracial actors reside in Hollywood and are multimillionaires. Three examples we can provide are Lenny Kravitz, his ex-wife, Lisa Bonet, and their daughter, Zoë.

Lenny and Lisa are both mixed-raced. Zoë is second-generation mixed-race. All three are well-known actors. Lenny is also a singer. They have talent. Meghan, however, doesn’t. Her complaints that she was not cast because she was not white or black enough had nothing to do with her unable to score roles. Her inability to act is what cost her. Almost all of her roles were handed to her.
