5 Running Gags In Star Wars Rebels

Running Gags Galore! We love Star Wars Rebels. The show came about when people struggled to cope with Disney buying Lucasfilm and how The Clone Wars had been axed from Cartoon Network unceremoniously. Though, that’s not what we’re going to discuss today.

Star Wars Rebels has provided us with many laughs, so we thought we’d have fun and talk about five of our favourite running gags from the series.

1. Ezra’s Constant Conflict With Zeb (Season 1)

One of our favourite running gags from Star Wars Rebels is the conflict Ezra often ran into with Zeb in the early episodes of Season 1.

The Lasat and the human teenager didn’t get along and constantly belittled each other. So when Hera suddenly grows tired of their bickering, she sends them on a supply run and on a wild goose chase where they steal a TIE fighter.

After this incident, Ezra and Zeb are less antagonistic towards each other. They end up teaming up in their fight against Chopper.

2. Kanan’s Issues With Rex (Season 2)

When Ahsoka was introduced into the series at the end of Season 1, it was only a matter of time before Rex appeared. After the situation onboard the Ghost when Ahsoka, Ezra and Kanan sensed Darth Vader, Tano sends members of Phoenix Squadron to look for her friend. However, the one thing she left out was that her friend was a Clone trooper.

Upon finding Rex and his clone brothers, Wolffe and Gregar, Kanan distrusts them because of what happened to his master, Depa Billaba, many years earlier with Order 66. However, over time, Jarrus and Rex became forced to work together.

In the end, Jarrus realised Rex wasn’t so bad, and the feeling became mutual that he wasn’t a bloodthirsty killer. When Ahsoka fails to return from Malachor after her fight with Vader, the Ghost crew mourns her and Kanan’s eyesight.

3. Chopper’s Violent Streak (All Seasons)

You cannot have Star Wars Rebels without C1-10P, aka Chopper. The cantankerous little droid is well known for his violent streak and foul mouth (if you can even call it that). Whenever there’s something he doesn’t like, such as enemy droids, he will push them out of a ship’s cargo bay. He also has an excessive habit of zapping Zeb and Ezra.

4. Ezra’s Lack Of Understanding Of Well, Anything And Everything (Season 1)

Rebels Season 1 gave Ezra a lot of growth. So much so that they gave him a greater understanding of the Jedi, the growing Rebel Alliance and the Sith. Early in the season, the young Jedi Padawan struggles to comprehend many things. One of those things is the meaning of big words, as seen when Lando flatters Sabine.

Another example of Ezra’s lack of understanding is when he asks what a kyber crystal is when he already knew what a lightsaber was.

5. Don’t Annoy Zeb (All Seasons)

Finally, we reach the final point on this post, and it’s not to annoy Zeb. If you tick him off enough, he might pull a Chewbacca and remove your limbs. Or threaten to dismantle you if you’re a droid.
