5 Fun Facts About William, The Prince Of Wales

William The Prince of Wales

What isn’t there to love about William, The Prince of Wales, outside that he’s kind and handsome and will be a great king? There are a lot of fun facts out there about the future monarch, which is why we’re publishing this post. We’ve already done one on the lovely Catherine, The Princess of Wales, so we thought it only fair to do one on William, too.

1. Revhead

Like his wife, William is very sporty, but one of his favourite pastimes is motorcycle riding, which apparently scares Catherine.

2. Princess Diana Nicknamed William “Wombat”

When William was a baby, his mother, Princess Diana, nicknamed him “Wombat”, which he said in a 2007 interview started when he was two years old and that it was a nod to Diana and Charles’ visit to Australia when he was a baby.

3. Prince George Calls His Dad “Pops”

You will be called many things when you’re William, The Prince of Wales. However, the moniker will be more personal when you’re a dad to three children. According to InStyle, William’s eldest son, Prince George, calls his father “Pops.”

4. The Prince Of Languages

As a royal, William, The Prince of Wales, must be fluent in at least one of two languages outside English. However, William can speak a total of seven languages, including English. He can speak the following:

  • English
  • German
  • French
  • Gaelic
  • Spanish
  • Swahili
  • Welsh

According to My London, he revealed he could speak a little Spanish during a Q&A session on Instagram to promote the EarthShot Prize.

5. Friendship With Crown Prince Hussein

William, The Prince of Wales, knows many foreign royals. But the one friendship that was surprising was Crown Prince Hussein. During a 2018 trip to Jordan, Prince William caught up with Hussein, as per Vogue Arabia.

The pair share a deep love for sport. William and Hussein must be fairly close as William and Catherine attended Hussein’s wedding in June 2023. Jordan holds a special place in William’s heart as he and Catherine have taken their children on holiday there and Catherine used to live in the country as a child when her dad, Michael was working there.

Hussein is also good friends with William’s cousin, Princess Beatrice. Moreover, Hussein’s mother, Queen Rania is also quite friendly with William as she is an active in the Earthshot Prize.
